mint condition D-8 with Mac tube case (not in as perfect of condition, but good). Anyone know what would be a good asking price for the cue. Don't have pics right now, but can get some in a few days. Thanks!!

Time Capsule..

For McDermott's use their time capsule pages. Here are the links to the Main pages and the link to the D-Series page.

They say it was $135 new and appreciated to $205 (perfect condition).
I am not a cue reseller hopefully someone will chime in here but you can use this as an addition for possible buyers. Something they can reference. Personally if it was like 70-80% and I was in the market I would say $75-90 maybe $110 if I was a McDermott user.

My best guesstimate.

I would say

that McDermott's are highly collectible items (the old one's) My first cue was a D-13 and I had that thing for a long time before moving on. I wish I'd kept it, because it's worth about $600+ now! I got it for about $230 in 1990. Anyways, that D-8 is simple, but don't forget that they are not making those anymore, and you might not know how many others are floating around, so make sure you bring that point up when dealing with the sale. I would have to say that the cue is a keeper, but that's just me.

Oh, IMO I don't think you would get offered that much for the cue being how it is simple looking. If you're wanting the $$, your best bet is finding a McDermott collector. They will probably pay what the cue deserves to bring.

Good Luck :wink2:

3rd Edition Cue Blue Book = 98%($170) 90%($135) 70%($35).........My opinion is $200 - $250 for the set up if you find the right buyer.

Value

In todays market $200 for cue and case. $250 is a push, if you don't need to sell it, keep it, if you like the way it plays. There aren't many better cues out there for the money.

Perfectly stated

thanks for all the responses. He is looking to purchase a new (custom) cue, and has a buyer for his other cues (his normal player - same year Schon, and a won Meucci original)....since the McDermott isn't worth much at all, I'll tell him to just hang on to it. After a layoff for about 8 years he figures he might as well try something new right now since he doesn't have a "feel" for a cue at the moment anyways....

again, appreciate all your help. :) I'll ask if he wants to let go of the case.

For that condition, you could probobly get 150ish maybe 200 for the cue. The McD tube case you don't see very often on ebay, but they seem to go for 100-150. If the case is the 3 piece 'super mac' case, then it would go for more.

There are a few other McDermott collectors (Phinmole) who might be able to give you more solid information, but these were the prices i was seeing on fleabay pre-holidays.
