WTF is happening to Philippine pool???! Has anyone informed Senator Manny Villar yet?
 
So Sad...A person's Life is worth more than a few bucks!! Hope they find who is reponsible and take appropriate action. This is OUTRAGEOUS!!!
 
Linds current condition may be a closely guarded situation, regardless if he made it or not.

the closest event at the Philippines is World Cup of Pool. Let's see how much it changes, if any. I don't expect anything from WPA and even Matchroom which is just promoting company organizing the WCOP. But for sure this won't be a fest of joy like it seemed when they announced Manila as a stage for next event, and two local teams playing. Maybe Philippine players should refuse to play at all to show their attitude to current situation. And maybe not only the Filipinos.
 
This is just ridiculous! not to long ago Edwin was gunned down and now his buddy was also shot. I don't know what to say.....

My prayers is with you Linds and your family. Hang in there bud. The AZ people are behind you. Looking forward for your speedy recovery.

It's a real shame, not just for Linds and his family but for the entire filipino pool community. The Philippines had become the heart and soul of Asian pool, the place where everything was happening. Now who knows what the future will bring. I wonder if all the players scheduled to play in the upcoming World Cup will even show up.

As for myself, I no longer have any desire to be involved in pool tournaments being organized over there. I just don't care anymore. If I go, it will be to visit my family over there. I have a daughter to take care of and be a father too. That's about it for me. I don't even know if I will go to the poolrooms and visit my buddies like Effie, Alex and Francisco. I just feel sad right now about the whole mess. They brought the pool world to the Philippines and now they're driving them all away.

I wanted to go to the PI and play, rail bird, bet, what ever in pool since I learned about it in 85. Never had the $$$ or time to go. Then about a year ago I was going to go with JA but it didnt work out, I spoke to SVB about going with him when he was in Vegas for the Rum Runner tournment-again I couldnt go for alot of reasons. I was disappointed. I wanted to go meed Edwin, I knew him here online-but didnt know him. With all this going on I'd rather pass, I cant imagine the vibe is very good now. Pool aint worth dieing for, my best to Linds.

This is one goal in my life I probably wont be able to do, shame too-I know at one time it was the spot!!

I did go to the Philippines a couple of times. Both Edwin and Linds were such gentlemen and ambassadors for their country and pool. We became good friends and have stayed in touch. God Bless you Edwin and please look out for Linds. I certainly hope he pulls through OK. They are the type of men I feel very proud to have known.

In no way am I an expert on the Philippines, But I do have ties to the Philippines. I think what people of Western Civilization have to realize is the great differences in Asian Culture, Politics and Economics. One such example in business might be "Third Party Commissions" a standard business practice in the Philippines. This is a Fee or commission paid by the purchaser to the salesman or rep of a company above and be on the price of goods purchased. TPC payment might go be on just the Salesman if you want to purchase certain products. A taxi driver working for an owner will get that taxi after working for the owner for 7 years etc etc. There are so many things that differ from western civilization. We can not judge only recognize those differences.

Does this mean the Philippines is a dangerous place to go. I sure wouldn't want to end up in a Dark alley in Harlem, But that doesn't mean I won't go to NYC.

How is Linds? Also, why did this thread just stop? Another murder of a cuemaker and all of a sudden it is of no interest. Then again if someone was murdering people in my neighborhood who happened to disagree with them I might muzzle myself. Just a damn shame!

From what I understand here, Lind is complaining about the Filipino billiard makers are losing their job because the Star Billiards are importing all their products from China. So,from drivers to quarrymen to finish product , Filipino workers are becoming jobless. Looks like money, greed and more greed is the root of cuemakers being gunned down.
 
that is a chilling conversation. It's hard to believe that pool and alliances are more important than someone's life. The part about Edwin dying while holding his 5 year old broke my heart. What a crazy world we live in...
