Linds was gunned down...

I hope that he is all right.

The Philippines has lost a great cuemaker just months ago...now this happen....

Do keep us updated, Jhun bro.

Strong indication that Linds spoke the truth

I don't know Linds, Edwin I considered a friend. The idea that cue makers can be shot and killed in the Philippines and it is a matter of little importance to the authorities is totally unacceptable. I had hoped to go to the Philippines one day. Primarily to meet Edwin it is true, he had offered to roll out the red carpet for me as he offered to so many, but also because it has became almost the Mecca of the pool world. However to go there is inevitably to spend money there and I refuse to support a government that is so callous and corrupt.

I want to see the shooters brought to justice, more importantly I want to see the people behind the shootings brought to justice.

May Linds be in all of our prayers.

I agree with my fellow patrons that something has to be done but not just for the pool communtity. THink about how much other things could be affected within that society of ideology. We shall all ban together and truly make something better for others not just talk about it. Things of this nature are unwelcome to many of us and WE need to let them know.

This is so incredibly outrageous I'm just speechless.

Thank you for the updates Jhun & I will keep Linds in my thoughts.

Can someone please PM a number I can call Mike H. or Jerry F. or Mr. Wilson or any of the Mods. Very urgent.

Best wishes to Linds and his loved ones. I hope the person responsible in both of these tragic events is found and prosecuted. Truly a sad affair.

tap-tap-tap (edit) Seriously...the international pool community should boycott the place.

Killings

I don't know whats going on in the phillipines but its insanity. No regard for human life.If they have an equivalent to the F.B.I. then they should be checking out these murders and attempts to murder. The players there know who is behind this and they should speak up in unity.
Prayers go out to Linds and family.
first Edwin now Linds whos next Bautist:mad:a

This is just sad stuff and really an eyesore for the sport over there. I know that the police are corrupt, people bought and sold and killed for a few dollars. People can talk all they want about the USA but this would not happen here, our pool politics are nothing compared to this.

Any news on this..? I just can't belief it!
I was going to meet him in november. I hope all is getting better soon...

Cue makers getting shot?!? What! Why?

I am really confused right now, like what did they do to deserve getting shot?

I hope nothing is fatal...

We are all pulling for you Linds

Still confused!!!

Draz....what people are referring to is a quite long running dispute between different camps involved in the promotion and organisation of pool tournaments, the managing of players and the representation of the interests of The Philippines internationally and towards Olympic Committees etc. That is what people are referring to.

The two gentlemen shot are supporters of one of those camps. The fact that they are both cuebuilders is unlikely to be the prime issue in itself.

If you search you will find some very long threads on the subject in the last year.

Best wishes again to all in Philippines who have the good of pool and pool players at heart.

This is the kind of thing that will ruin filipino pool for everyone - on both sides! Who will want to go there and play? What promoters will want to create events over there? Once was bad enough, but twice is way too much.

It's a real shame, not just for Linds and his family but for the entire filipino pool community. The Philippines had become the heart and soul of Asian pool, the place where everything was happening. Now who knows what the future will bring. I wonder if all the players scheduled to play in the upcoming World Cup will even show up.

As for myself, I no longer have any desire to be involved in pool tournaments being organized over there. I just don't care anymore. If I go, it will be to visit my family over there. I have a daughter to take care of and be a father too. That's about it for me. I don't even know if I will go to the poolrooms and visit my buddies like Effie, Alex and Francisco. I just feel sad right now about the whole mess. They brought the pool world to the Philippines and now they're driving them all away.

I agree. I do not think anybody should support pool to take place in Philippines.

That said, I still love my Filipino players and enjoy seeing them compete.

It's a lose-lose situation. :frown:
