Little custom butt-cap work for a friend

The jury is still out in my courtroom. Could become distracting but absolutely very novel. Still gotta see the final cue.

I'll get a full cue video when it's all said and done tomorrow.
Maybe I'll convince him to let me take out those red rings and do some black abalone inlays to match the collars and cap.

Got the joint collar finished this evening. Not good enough lighting in my house for full cue shot, I'll get one on a table tomorrow.

I don't like the contrast, but respect the work. Great effort!
Very creative…..Cudos……but the contrast doesn’t quite click for me. Looks more like a laptop or tablet screen saver that froze up. I think for the joint, you’d need to go with a lighter tone or color & even a solid color with a design would be a better
fit or perhaps a stacked different colors joint collar. When all is said and done, the joint must be functional and durable.

You did a fine job for a friend. I think the swirly plastic has little call on a cue, that with the rest of the cue makes no sense from any design standpoint. I would caution you to be weary of agreeing to a customer's desires. In the end, it is your name that goes on the build, it would be unfortunate to be associated with too many designs that clash just because the customer wanted it.
The two biggest lies in business are:
1. Safety first. It can't be, so don't pretend it is. First is always the job, second or third is figuring out how to do it safely.
2. The customer is always right. I worked at an elite engineering firm designing things for some extremely large companies. Our Chief of Staff once told a group of us that our job is not to give the customer what they want, it is to provide what they need.
No disrespect intended, as I said, you performed the task well.

Guys, I apologize for the monstrosity this thing turned out to be. It should be burned.

Some woodworking shop by my house had a bin of scraps. I found a couple long and wide enough. I assume there's stock somewhere around, but it's not cheap from what I recall.
I don’t know anyone here that doesn’t appreciate your effort and wish you all the best.
Are you going to match the ring on the CF shaft ?

Not sure if I care to match the ring on the cf shaft yet. First time building a shaft and just want to get it together minimally and see how it plays because I know I am going to want to tweak a bunch of things before I call it good.
If it's not a total crash and burn by the end, I'll throw the cosmetics at it like matching rings to the ferrule.
