You probably are referring to an American pool record but Jimmy White, one of the most naturally gifted snooker players of all time reached the World Snooker finals 5 successive years running from 90 to 94 and was beaten each time. He has now passed his prime but has'nt been the same person since. Heartbreaking.

It was "Cowboy" Jimmy Moore

He did win a National Championship though, defeating Luther Lassiter in a 3,000 point match for that title.
