If it would of been a reasonable price I would of bought it.

'Cause it is only a 64 player event (as unfortunately the WPA 10 Ball will be). Other than the automatic invites for top 16 WPA, Asia only got allotted 8 sots. The BCA got 6, and it is in the US, LOL.

There's actually 10 from USA...which seems fitting for host country.
Strange, there is two from Hong Kong but none from Mainland China.

Yes, though before announcing the set field CSI stated on 3/3 that the allocations were going to be:

"The allocations for the WPA Players Championship are as follows:

WPA rankings (16)
APBU (8)
EPBF (8)
BCA (6)
CPB (4)
AAPA (2)
OPBA (2)
WPA wildcards (2)
Qualifiers (16)

The Stage 1 Qualifiers are the only avenue for a person not invited to get in. Anyone may register for the qualifiers."

Guess BCA ended up getting more.

James Aranas qualifies for stage 2 taking down Eberle 5-2 justifying his “top seed” Fargo rating

Winners of these 3 matches will also qualify
De Luna v Hsu
Faraon v de leon
Branson vDuong
:grin-square:

Surprise qualifier for 2nd stage is Nicholas de Leon 706 who beat Faraon.
Aranas , Hsu and Duong also qualified for 2nd stage

I looked up the Fargo on Vietnam Duong Quoc Hoang. Shows 500 stater rating 0 robustness.

He wins
5-F
5-0
5-2 vs Jeff Ignacio
5-0 vs a 711 fargo

Just finished watching the De Luna vs. Chang match. The winner was guaranteed a spot in the Players Championship. De Luna had two chances to win at 4-2 and 4-3, and he failed both times, choking on a seven ball with an easy out at 4-3. De Luna still had the break at 4-4 and made a ball but only had a push shot on the one. He left Chang a long shot and he converted it and made a gutsy run-out from there. Even in a short race to five (MC!) a match can swing on one mistake. Both of these guys are world class players and both made excellent run outs until the pressure was on and De Luna got a lump in his throat.

I want to give a shout out to the commentary team of Ben Sutherland and Karl Boyes. I thought they were excellent, both knowledgeable and articulate. I don't know Sutherland but he is a great lead commentator. And Karl gave good explanations of the why's and wherefore's of each player's decision making and he was right on almost every time. What else would you expect from a top player like him. He has a good, clear Brit voice, easy for us Yanks to understand. They worked well together and I hope we hear more from them.

That's two times in a row that De Luna had a match to qualify and failed. It will be hard for him to come back from that.

Faraon also missed out twice in row.
They both are in same tough quadrant/ group today. Together with Vilmos, Hsu Jui An, Ellerman

The first live stream match of the day will begin at noon pacific time:

Jalal Yousef, Jordan (752) vs Omar Al-Shaheen, Kawait (771)

Good match choices, choosing matches with high Fargo players
:)

The 4 who qualified on Sunday: Alshaheen, Ellerman, Ignacio, Malaj.

Some who aren't in yet, with just one day left: Faraon, De Luna, Styer, Foldes, Jones, Owen, Chinakhov

This time Ellerman got De Luna in the match to qualify. That's three times in a row Jeff has had to win one match to get in and failed. It's got to be very disheartening. These short races really put the pressure on every time a player comes to the table. They feel like they MUST get out with an open table!
