Well, I made the trip out to the Famous Lizard Acres yesterday and had a great time!
First off, the room is super nice. There are 28 gold crowns, 1 Snooker Table and 1 3-Cushion Table.
George the Jump welcomed me as I walked in the room and signed me in as his guest.
Over in the back corner 2 tables there were about 20 guys shooting, laughing and sharking each other. George informed me that that group of guys play an early morning league every single week and have been doing so for the past 25 years. None of these guys were bangers by any means and all were having a great time. I got a kick out of the banter between a few of them.
George and I started with a few racks of 1 hole, which neither of us should be allowed to play that game in public again. (both are beginners). As we banged the balls around, many guys strolled around the room and everyone was super polite and knew George by name.
I heard 2 guys talking about Vegas in May and I joined the converstation. We spoke about rooms they use to play at all over the Phoenix Valley. George challenged 2 guys to play some partners 8-ball and they accepted after they had some time to warm up. But about 2 racks later they had another game already going and we continued to play against each other.
George mentioned that everyone in this room was very friendly and it was really hard to say No when someone asked if you wanted to play, which was every person in the room. (I just wish more pool rooms were like this and better yet more people).
About an hour into the session a guy came in and played 3 Cushion by himself right next to us. He joked about his competition being scared of him because he didn't show up and also about how frustrating that game can be. I quickly saw that as what appeared to be great shots would come off the 3rd rail and skim right past the 2nd object ball without hitting it again.
We banged rack after rack for over 2 1/2 hours and it was very fun!
Thank you for the Generous Offer to come and play in this private room George the Jump!
I wish I would have snapped more pictures, but I did manage to get this one gem of George running out on me.
