I tested the long cue with an extension that Campbell sent me. The cue is
60'' without the extension and about 68" with it. It was made by JC is
wrapless with nice contrasting woods and nice rings. The shaft is I guess
about 12mm with conical taper. It hit solid without the extension, but to
my surprise it hit even better with it on, making that perfect ponk sound
no matter how far out on the edge of the cue ball you hit it. My bridge
automatically got longer, I guess because of length of the cue. On the plus
side long thin cut shots were easy and power follow was really good.
Like with the OB close to the side rail about 14" or so from the pocket
and the CB up toward the other end of the table 6" to 8" off the same
rail. I could power follow it and the CB would hit the side rail and jump
forward heading for the end rail like it had a motor in it. It did the same
way when I set up some straight pool break shots, the CB would just
tear through the rack. Maybe it was the extra weight, I don't know. The
other thing I realized was I was going through the racks never reaching
or stretching for a shot, which is a big plus. I didn't like the taper of the
shaft. Long length of the table draw shots had to be hit a little harder
with this cue which is no big deal. A few people at the place hit some balls
and all really liked it saying it felt really powerful. It was so humid and
sticky that I didn't play for a long time or set up certain shots shooting
with my cue which has LD shaft and this one and record my findings.
I will as soon as it drys up a little.
