I've watched Efren play many times and he is not only skillful but he has an attitude at the table that makes most of us envy! I wish I could be as gracious! Whether he's winning or losing, the man has class! He don't play too bad either!!

Earl is exciting to watch but sometimes his unsportsman-like behavior is hard to accept. He is a great player, though, no doubt about that! I think any of the top ten or twenty players could beat each other at any given time. Earl and Efren just do it a little more often than the others.
 
Manlyshot, yeah i was alive in the 80s. All im trying to say is Earl won all his worlds and us-opens when the fields were Very weak fields filled mostly with 5 or 6 americans, Is earl on top today? Does he win 1 out of every 3 tournamets like he did back in the 80s and early 90s? No he does not there are way better players today!

Hey, Earl, Corey Deuel, Mika Immonen and a lot of other pool players flew in to play in this open. So, if you're claiming jet lag, well, the others should also be feeling it. Thing is, Corey, Mika and some of the others who flew in are still in the running. Earl and Rodney are out. Shame about Rodney... I wanted him to do well...but he ran into an in-stroke Antonio Lining today.

Besides, if Earl just won in the Viking tour, then, his stroke should be in the groove.

As good as Earl is, and mind you, I like the guy and I love watching him play when he's in form... but overall, I would think that Efren is a heck of a lot better.

More U.S. Opens for Earl? Of course... he lives in the U.S., man. If Efren lived there, I would bet you that he would have more tournament wins than Earl. Thing is, Efren's initial trips to the U.S. were very dependent on finding sponsors or "managers" to pay for his plane fares and expenses.

In the end though...it doesnt matter who is better. They are both very good, and we should just count ourselves lucky to be able to watch and learn from these masters of the game.

This is Fast, do not poo pah the jet lag. I am flying over the Philliphines in a couple of weeks. I will have 15 hours on a plane in one flight, then 7 hrs on the 2nd leg, all at one time. When you cross that many time zones, you walk around in a daze for a while, sometimes for a couple of days. It affects every one different. If you have never done this, then you cannot understand it. It's like being drunk when you get off the plane. Your mind is mush.

I have always said I am one of Earl's greatest fans and supporters. Why do you compare Earl to Efren, he is not an American. Support your fellow Americans and cheer for them, that is what Earl is trying to tell you, that is what I say as well.

When it comes to American 9 ball players he is truly one of the all time greatest ever. That is all that really counts. :D
 
My job takes me to the U.S. over 6 times a year...so, I know about jet lag.

I also know that there are ways to avoid getting jet lag...and if you're a professional athlete, it behooves you to at least try to find out what those ways are, so that you will always be at the top of your game.

As for me comparing Earl to Efren, I never did. I didnt start the thread. I'm also a fan of Earl, actually. Heck, I'm a fan of anyone who can at least run three friggin' balls. lol

And, Earl=Mozart? Good but I would rather think him closer to George Gershwin, both the best this country has ever produced.

As far as Efren and Earl go, I have played them both. Back in the mid '80s, Earl ran a lot of fives and sixes on all opponents, and Efren would have had his hands full. Today, Efren just don't miss. It seems like Earl's break has eluded him a little bit lately, but it doesn't mean that Earl is not capable of beating him. They are both great players.

Myself, I have never been a result picker. Sometimes, the tortoise will catch the hare. I've seen it happen to me, I've seen it happen to them, and I've seen it happen to others. If you care to take a look at my pictures below, all of these players are champions in their own right, but needless to say, timing is everything.

Earl Strickland reminds me of Serj Tankian (lead signer of System Of A Down). Powerful game and equally powerful personality. His fans are as tough skinned as he is.
