Anyone know any long rail to short rail kick system? care to share? :)

Describe an example, are you kicking off of the long rail or the short rail?

There used to be a pretty good one on Jimmy Reid's site. Don't know if it is still there. Takes some practice to understand but works OK.

It is for 2 and 3 rail kicks, long rail first, if that is what you are looking for.

With the mirror system you can actually pocket balls (if they are near the long rails)... You can also use it to kick for a back if the object ball is near the pocket on the short rail...

For the most part, though, I kick to the short rail using the same method that I would kick to anywhere using the long rail; that is not much different... If you want to add some and kick that extra rail to go for the make, do just that....add some.

You can't learn to kick balls in without taking the time to actually practice the kicks; no matter what system you use.

You can try this. It is for long rail to short rail kicks that has worked for me.

Short rail diamonds are 15 each. ( 1st diam. = 15, center = 30 etc. )
Long rail diams. are 10 each. Corner = 80, next = 70 etc.

Example : object ball is at 30 (The Brunswick), cue ball in corner pocket = 80

30x80 = 240 shoot the cue ball between the 2nd and 3rd diamond hitting approximately 240.

if cue ball is at 70, diamond next to pocket, 70x30 =210 etc.

Your talking about the plus 2 system. The easy way is to look at your first short rail, and the diamonds are numbered 3, 5, 7, coming toward you. Count the diamonds down the long rail from your cue ball to the object ball and then aim at the corresponding number on the short rail. Use a little running english but you may have to adjust english for the equipment. Thats just one way to use the system, there are variations. Pm if you want detail.

Deadon's right, it's called the plus 2 system if your coming from the long rail to the short rail. A 2 rail system but it is known better as the dreaded plus 2 system. You have to use running English but you cannot vary it one iota. If your English varies at all you will miss the kick/shot.

Personally I wouldn't use it unless the mortgage was at stake with no other options.

I'm with Joe on this one as far as the opening post. I didn't know what you were asking about tasaddicts. Your subsequent posts narrowed it down...

This called the SIDS system, if I rememeber correctly. It works very good.

Good Luck...

My recommendation would be to get Grady Mathews tape, "Nothing but Kicks." That will open up your eyes. We have a select few people that have viewed the tape and using the knowledge gained made great shots that the audience goes nuts over. We always make eye contact with those other knowledgeable people and say, "Thanks Grady!"
