The ring works in the butt are usually in line.

As for the shaft and butt's ring-work, for wood to wood joint they are tougher to aligned as different user uses different tightness when tightening up the shaft to the butt.
 
actually it is 10 years and 4 months, that must be patty being a smart ass i know greg isnt smart enough to figure that out!
