Look for this stolen Gilbert Titlist cue in these cities.

I unload boxes for UPS and its pretty hard to steal something from there...unless youre friends with a truck driver or something there isnt any way to get anything out. What I suggest for sending a cue or something of the sort...put it in its tube, then find a box that can hold the tube. Put lots of packing peanuts in the box, then wrap it tight like you would wear a jimmy hat...dont worry about your customer getting it open, all he has to do is cut the box to all hell and then hell get to the tube. The problem with these tubes and what not is that they roll around on the "extendo" which is the belt that goes into the truck. So to recap, place tube in box, wrap box in tape like never before, and youll be fine. Tubes get lost, or they roll off literally the miles of conveyor belt, boxes have a much harder time of doing this.

Sorry ...

Sounds terrible. Sorry about it.

A friend of mine, an older gentleman and his wife go to
Nationals every year, and he makes and sells chalk
holders made of leather with conchos on them with
a little housecue on the end to stick in your pocket.
He makes 3 different colors, black, red, and natural.
He had 360 of them to take to Nationals and shipped
UPS to their hotel in Vegas. When he got them in Vegas,
1 package of 20 red ones, 1 package of 20 natural ones,
and 1 package of 20 black one were missing.

He sells them for $20 a piece, so he was out $1200.
He sold the other 290 of them while he was in Vegas.
1 package of each color, mysterious, isn't it? .... lol

Now, he just takes them with him in a suitcase.

I wouldnt try to send anything I didnt have to....If you can put it in your suitcase I would.

no mystery, the local high school basketball team had to play their first two games in their street shoes because the UPS driver and a friend who loads the trucks STOLE their new shoes, in transit !!!!!!!!!

if everyone was honest, we would have no need for police and lawyers,,,JMHO

I'm having the same problems with UPS now. I bought an antique regulator clock for my pool room. Got a great deal on it, $260. I got the package, which had "fragile marked no less than 10 times on the package. The package was obviously dropped and the original glass was broken. I contacted the seller, and they filed the insurance claim with UPS. Now I get a claim ticket for RTS. I went and talked to the local UPS office and they said they would have to ship the clock back to the sender, have their office investigate and send them the insurance money. BS!!! Then the sender would have my money, the clock, and the insurance money. This seller may very well be an honorable and trustworthy person, but that just sounds like too big of a risk on my part. It is not the sellers fault the clock broke. Just like your Gilbert. It's UPS's fault, THEY need to make things right with both of us. I should get my money from them and the seller should get back her shipping cost.

Life goes on, I just decided to spend another $150-$200 to get it fixed and go on about life.

Thanks very letting me vent though :)

I'll offer some friendly advice which you can take for what it's worth. Use the Post Office. They have their own law enforcement branch, the Postal Inspection Service. You're asking for trouble using UPS.

The F.B. I. Investigates Thefts from Interstate Shipments. Like UPS, Trucking Companies, Federal Express, Greyhound, etc.

As Ted Harrius said file your claim, and move on after you get your check....

The F B I has a lot of fine people and they do a great job, but IMO the P I S has more resources available for this specific task. Like I said originally, take it for what it's worth. If you have enjoyed good service from UPS then by all means stick with them. Myself, I feel a lot more comfortable with the Post Office.

It seems to me USPS Priority for 2 to 3 days shipping seems to be best shipping value out there.

Anything I get that's shipped UPS ground takes forever getting here. Never more than 3 days for USPS Priority (coast to coast) with delivery confirmation.

And I believe it's federal crime to mess with USPS - possible deterent. I got a package today via USPS with a tube top open  but the cue and the shafts were there and intact - thank god (or goddess Marissa)!!!

Most mail theft occurs after the letter carrier delivers the letter/parcel and somebody comes along and takes it. If you are mailing an expensive item like a pool cue and want to make sure the letter carrier doesn't leave it on the porch, you can get something called return receipt for merchandise. That forces the recipient to sign for the parcel. If nobody is home they will either attempt redelivery or leave a note for pickup at the Post Office. If they can't complete delivery after about a week they return it to sender. Insurance is a good idea too, you should be able to get the return receipt for merchandise and insurance for about 5 bucks total. Well worth it if it's an expensive que.

Hi the same guy that bought your gilbert cue , just bought a willie hoppe from me and the ups guy snapped the cue in half on the delivery truck the day of the delivery. This poor guy cant catch a break no he doesnt get my nice willie hoppe either! i think thay should check that driver out a little better. The reason i know this is the gentleman said he just bought a gilbert in a pvc tube and it was missing! Good luck to you!
