Looking for a cue under 100$

Hey guys, i've been doing a lot of research for the past few weeks looking for a solid cue. I've liked some of the Players cue's, but i'm not sure on many of the differences because many of them show the exact same description and features.

I've been using a fiberglass cue which was given to me because it had a worn out tip, I replaced the tip with a kmart tip, which was a piece of crap obviously, lol.

I've been improving my game lately and have started using english and draw/follow and feel like i'd like to get a nice cue for myself.

My budget is 100$ maximum, if I can spend less than that it would be great.

Thanks

Save Up

If I were you I would wait a while longer save up a little money there is a big difference between a $100 cue and a $150 to $250 cue (besides a $150). And you will have many more options in that price range. In the meantime have someone put a nice tip on your current cue and make sure it is well shaped. for 10 to 15 bucks you can make your cue play way better with a new tip. I really feel that the tip is the most important part of your stick anyway. Good luck and take your time choosing I have spent more time with the pool cues that I have owned than any other single thing I own so choose well.

Thanks for the sound information.

I should note that i'm heading back up to school in a couple of weeks, where I do play a lot of pool. I don't work while i'm at school, so my summer savings are going to get me through the semester haha.

I could go the route of re-tipping this cue, but I prefer the feel of a wood stick over this fiberglass one (it feels quite sticky in comparison).

I can spare about 100$, but not much more than that. So I do realize I wouldn't be getting a great pool stick, but would it not be possible to get a decent cue in that range?

Yea its possible

Its totally possible to get a stick you will love in almost any price range. But make sure you like the stick that you buy don't just buy it so you can replace it later. I have owned probably 10 or 12 sticks in my life but I have only ever played with three of them. My last one a Pechauer for almost 10 years I would still be playing with it if it didn't go pear shaped on me. My current stick will hopefully last me the rest of my life. That is a big comitment...

best bet would be players cues in the 50.-100. range.

valhalla is made "by" viking cues

star and lucky by mcdermott cues are a good choice in the sub 50. range. I have two of their cues for people at my house and the quality is better than any walmart or store bought cue.

edit: scorpion cues and cuetec will have fiberglass shafts

100 dollar cue

Walmart has some made in america with rock maple shaft for 50 to 100. Pretty good sticks for the money!

You absolutely can get a cue that plays great and that you will love for $100 or less. From my own personal experiences I would recommend Players, Lucky by McDermott, the Black Widow line by McDermott, and Rage. They all play great and can be had for less then $100. Not the fanciest cues in the world but they all play good. They'll all play significantly better then what you have now. Good luck and have fun with your choice.

seyberts

billiardwarehouse

ozonebilliards

are all great reputable places to buy cues.

Lucky Cues by McDermott are decent.
Valhalla Cues by Viking are nicer.
Can't go wrong with a simple Players cue.
Action makes a decent sneaky pete for $40ish.

The HXT series by Players has grabbed my attention because of it's low deflection shaft, a feature I have yet to see on any other cue within my price range. After doing some research on the shaft itself, it seems to be pretty decent.

I've narrowed it down to the HXT15 and the HXT30 (if you all would be kind enough to just google them, because I can't supply links until I have 5 posts)

The only difference I can see between the two is the joint. The HXT15 has a stainless steel joint, while the HXT30 has an implex joint. I'm not sure on which would be better? also between the two, what do you all think is the nicer color choice? lol I like them both.

Anyone else think this a good choice for within a 100$ ? or a suggestion on another option?

Thanks for the tips so far!

Of those i wod get he hxt30. I like the softer hit compared ro the steel joint.

I forgot about Schmelke cues. Go to billiard warehouse.com made in wisconsin and they are great quality cues

Go to a few pawn shops. They might have a really nice old cue that could be fixed up to play killer for around $100 total.

I 2nd the Schmelke cues. Billiard Warehouse has a line of the Schmelke sneaky petes that sell in the $95-100 range that are great hitting cues for the money.

It's hard to beat the Player's cues for the money, especially with a $30 Kamui tip installed already. A lot of people have had good things to say about the HXT line. I'll second the choice of the HXT30 with the implex joint (of the two you listed).

Have fun shopping!

I paid $140 shipped for a Dale Perry and I love it... Best cue for the money

I also have a Dale Perry which is a great cue for the money. Plays as well as my Schon. I checked e-bay and they're going for as low as $99 plus shipping. Best bang for the buck.

Dale perry on ebay

If all you have to spend is $100. I think your best bet is to look on ebay. You can pick up a new Dale perry custom cue for a little over $100.
I see them sell all the time on ebay for from $99---$125... This is a hand made custom cue from a well known makes. You cant do any better for $100-$125 so dont even try....
