I'm tired of seeing this post and want to just say, think about this. You've wasted a month in looking for a used lathe with no guarantee and perhaps buying someone else's misery. You'd probably save $400 buying it used.
Now, let's assume that you're starting out and only making $50 per week in profit doing repairs. You've already lost $200 in this past month by not having the lathe. Let's assume that in the next 30 days the same holds true. There you have the $400 you would have saved buying it used.
Bread down, email Chris and buy the thing new. Not only will you have fewer problems but you'll get support and feel good supporting the very person you should be supporting by purchasing the new lathe. You're not saving anything buying it used as no one in the USA will want to ship it to Australia. You're dreaming.
