Hi

A close friend of mine recently got into a new hobby: knife throwing. She asked me if I' know anyone who can teach it...

(The first image came to mind was Scott Lee's instant video feedback system with he saying, "Pull back!... Now, hold it!.... " in the background)

- She is determined: got herself a set of knifes and build a "knife throwing" practice range with a giant target board on one side....

- I have also suggested finding someone around Coney Island Area or looking up "Circus" in the phone book...

Please drop me a pm if you know someone who can teach this :)

talk about a nitsch hobby1 :D...actually when we used to go up to the mountains of NY/PA and visit the small local bars.....the "Elbow room" or "The stumble inn" the would open up the dart board for knife throwing!!!!

at that point I would take my Pabst Blue Ribbon and head for the hills!!!

good luck!

Watch your back with that girl:D .

Look in the Soldier of Fortune mags. There will be someone in there to help her. Also find knife trowing tournaments and ask around who teaches. I learned from a Mexican Army friend years ago. Once you get the basics buy GOOD balanced throwing knifes. Finland use to make good ones. Johnnyt

A woman in NYC who wants to learn how to throw knives accurately? Nothing good can come of this. Is 9BallGirl looking for a new hobby? :D

Also Wei, how are those 3-rail kicks working for you in bank pool? You were having a tough go at them at Derby City! :P Don't think me and easy-e forgot about the beers you and Mike Basha owe us! :D

Four words,

Don't Be a Dick
:D

He's not being a dick pointing out that this is non pool related.
You're being an arse for saying something like that.

There is a specific forum for non pool related, this fits in that category.

Two words

Gil Hibben......

Google it ... he is the balabushka of the knife world...
Wow...

At first I couldn't contain my disgust at this. But then I realized truer words were never spoken on this site.

Gil Hibben is the Balabushka of the knife world. The name is legendary, but the actual product is at best typical, mass produced...

Buying a Gil Hibben knife is exactly like buying an Adam/Helmstetter Balabushka! You think you're getting one thing, but really you're getting another.

Imparting a little advice here...

Wei...
Please remember for the sake of all of us who love what you have done....you need all of your fingers and both your thumbs to continue your great work (plus any other body parts you may have a vested interest in keeping).
So when she says, "I need you to just stand here dear"...DON'T!:)

You have an awesome female friend. Google up a forum for knife throwers. There has to be one out there somewhere.

If that's no good, contact Ringling Brothers Circus act and ask for "Stiletto" or "Daniel Boone". :D

DP, just don't bother trying to trade obligations. I already owe Wei big time! ;)

One thing to keep in mind if the ex-military types aren't available would be to ask any friends who are interested in martial arts. I don't think you could just walk into any kind of martial arts (taekwondo jujitsu etc) school and get just knife-throwing training, but martial artists are notorious for their love of sharp pointy things. When I took martial arts one of my favorite things was the various weapons training we did.
