Looking for a part for GCIII

Does anyone know of a source I could purchase the female threaded rail hold downs that go into the slots in the rails of a GCIII. I'm not sure what they are called.

I recently purchased a used GCIII and it seems that whoever put it together originally was in a hurry, because they crossthreaded it badly. I ran a tap through it but the hole itself is elongated. Next time I recover the table I'll do the rails and I'd like to replace that piece.

thanks in advance.

They are also called the "captured nut". There are two different models used on the Gold Crown 3. The first, is a rectangular steel plate with a 3/8 16 coarse thread. The second, is a thinner oblong shape and narrower. You can replace the thinner smaller one with the more heavy duty ones, the slot accepts both. There is a staple that holds them in place, after peeling back the rubber you'll expose the slot.

Ken Hash at Classic Billiards carries both types. The thicker are far better IMO.

Good Luck

Classic Billiards is the way to go. Every time I do a search when I am researching buying an older GC I come back to them. And most anyone looking for restoration parts reference them as a good source.

Go to Home Depot, buy you a piece of 1/4" x 3/4" x 3 foot steel flat bar. Cut it into 1 1/2" lengths, drill a centered 5/16"ths hole, then tap threads into the hole with a 3/8"ths x 16 tap, cost is about .25 cents a piece this way.
