Looking for Best Pool Tables.

What’s your budget? New or used? Are you a serious player that will play 10 hrs or more every week, or a casual player that will play once in a while with the family?

For medium-sized rooms, New table, Budget around 3000, I am a casual player like to play with my family.

Okay you have narrowed it down to new 7 ft. for a casual play home table in the $3,000 range. Some of your choices for good quality name brands are, Brunswick, Olhausen and Golden West. I think I would contact these table manufacturers and see what kind of a deal they can give you. Brunswick list the prices on their website, but the others don't.

Another option, and probably the best in my opinion, would be to buy a good used table since there are so many folks out there that buy these home furniture tables and soon find out that they really have no interest in the game and decide to sell it for a real good price. Heck, for 3,000 bucks you could probably get a top-of-the-line barely used table, or even a commercial. The Diamond 7 footer would be the very best table for you, but it's highly unlikely you will see one of those listed for sale, if so it won't last long for sure. Another good used option in the commercial 7 ft. category would be the bar boxes, like Valley, and Dynamo. If you are wanting something that holds value, the old commercials will far out perform the usual furniture grade table in that category as well. Basically the market is flooded with the casual home furniture tables, so value is next to nothing and likely to stay that way. If you are just a buyer that could be a good thing. Hope this helps, and good luck in the search.

Depends where you live.

If I was getting a new table here in Canada it would be a Joy Chinese 8 ball table. Game is taking off where I live. Tight pockets, good quality.

While I'd love to see all the Diamond tables in my area replaced with those Joy's, I still can't help to think why not use American balls on a Snooker table and call it done... is the Chinese table variant really needed?

Chinese 8b table is 4.5x9ft not 6x12. BIG difference. Putting these in your average American room would be a huge mistake. Maybe have one but not all. Your average recreational player couldn't make a ball on one.

if you have an aspirations of taking the game seriously and learning to play well, I would save/borrow a little extra money and get a diamond pro am. seyberts and manningcues both sell the tables at a reasonable price.

I made the mistake in the past of getting a table in the 3K range and ended up selling it at a big loss to get a diamond. Don't make the same mistake I made.

If you just want to play with some friends those tables you mentioned would be fine. Just pick the one you like the looks of best.

I'm the best pool player in

And on the snooker tables I've had access to, one couldn't run a rack of pool balls just shooting them straight into the pockets, without cue ball.

Won a beer off my buddy, betting that.

There are a lot of bar boxes for sale right now on facebook marketplace. I see vendors selling large lots of them as some bars go out business and/or to cash out buy new ones later. If on a budget could get a valley and but ridgeback rails on it to make it play nicer. I am seeing $700 delivered/setup, I got one $950 delivered/setup with new simonis and ridgebacks.

O.K., but so does a nice pool hall have to make room for yet another type of table? While I'd have no problem sacrificing a 9ft table, you could still compromise and use a 10ft table and the rails could be configured for anything popular besides Snooker and Russian Pyramid

But I guess in the end, if you wanted these big money Chinese 8 ball tournaments you'd have to use an official table, so I guess replace them all now (but leave us a 3 cushion please).

for a casual player for at home nothing beats an olhausen. they have a good network and dealers in most areas. and they are priced fairly and look about the best for home furnishings. and they play well.
go to their website. and they also have all the dimensions you need to know.

I totally agree! In the 7 foot category a little Valley bar box would be hard to beat. It's been years since I played on one, but I do remember that if setup properly they play really well.
