Looking for both advice and a local instructor

Howdy howdy. Thanks for taking the time to read about my troubles and needs. First off, if there are any qualified instructors in or near Richardson or Garland Texas, please get in touch with me. I have been playing for just under two years now and have actually been lucky to have some quality players on some APA teams and am joining a new 10 ball league with some truly top notch local players next week.

For the record, I am currently a 5 in APA 8 ball, a 6 in APA 9 ball (which in my opinion is not true 9 ball), and will be starting as a 70 in NAPA 10 ball. The most important thing I am learning over the past few months is pace. Not only the speed of the tables I play on, but the pace I need to mot effectively get english on a cue ball. At first, I thought to get draw that I really had to slam the cue ball and I know now that is not the case.

My main issue at the moment involving pace however seems to be banks and kicks. It seems I miss my banks by about half a diamond on bar boxes with 2-ball pockets, and my kicks I make good contact 90 + percent of the time but sell out the next shot. When working on kicks and banks, what types of drills and shots should I be working on consistently?

My other main issue I seem to have is breakout shots. Similar to my kicks, I can make contact on a breakout shot fairly consistently but I either miss pocketing the first object ball or, more often still, make weak contact on the breakout and don't have a quality shot, and no longer have a good breakout opportunity. Any advice on drill or anything at all to help on breakout shots, outside of not leaving it until the last ball?

Thanks,

Eric Prince

Shooting cues: Dale Perry production with Moori medium tip
Omega 10 with Tiger-Everest tip
Break cue: Cheap remake of a J&J Break-jump cue.

CJ, I appreciate it greatly. I will send you that PM in just a moment. My Wednesday night APA team this last session had Jerry Kennedy on it, who you may know. My Thursday night NAPA 10-ball team will be captained by Chris Staley, another one you may know. Jerry has told me in the past you give private lessons. I'd love to get in contact with you about that at some point.

Regards, Eric Prince

You can't go wrong with Randy, he is a real instructor not just a good player. Probably should have been a teacher.

I fully agree he is a teacher but I was referring to be a school teacher or college professor and he may be that too. I know Randy but just from the pool side not his personal life.

I was just kidding you. While he was not a teacher (he would have been a great one), I'm pretty he did some coaching. I sure hope the op contacts Randy.
