Looking for cue ID?

This is probably some chintzy production cue from yesteryear, but I wanted to know more about it. Appears to be an aluminum joint collar with piloted brass pin. Red ringwork, matching on shaft and butt. No markings anywhere identifying it. I think I have seen this exact cue in another player's hands before, older guy who was just whacking them around at a local place.

its from yesteryear all right, probably a import, K-Mart comes to mind or Sears. its hard to really see in the pictures but where the wood meets the red collars looks a bit dodgy. I'm not sure anyone will know about this one, unless we have someone here who worked at Sears, Wards, or JCP back in the day. The red is kinda cool tho.:)

It definitely is "a bit dodgy" for sure. There is nothing expensive about this cue. It was in an old case that I picked up and figured I would find out more about it. It breaks pretty well, plays pretty well, but there is something loose in the butt end. Probably a dowel that has come unglued. Shame.

Could be the weight bolt. Pop the bumper off and see if you can tighten it.
 
Believe it or not I think I have a shaft that matches that! LOL!

I got it in a small lot of pool cues I gut at the flea market a couple of years ago.

If it's the same as mine those "aluminum" rings are plastic.

Yeah...cheap cue. Rattles? No kidding. Wonder if it has a weight bolt?

if it hits good a rattle aint the worst thing ever, unless you can feel it and it annoys you, i layed with a cue that buzzed for years, it still plays great. The red is cool, long gone are teh "undercover" days of pool, but had the internet and camera phones elimated that, this is a perfect under cover cue.:smile:
 
It's definitely not a weight bolt. I took the bumper off and it is just wood there. I am guessing it is a dowel that detached and is flying around in there now. The rattle isn't too distracting, but it can never be a serious player for me now. I have a new tip and ferrule invested in it, which is a shame. It rests on my wall rack at home for guests, it plays well enough for sure.

My favorite undercover cue is the warped one at a bar with the best tip in the house, because no one ever uses it.

As far as the information age goes, no one has outed me yet! I don't have a facebook, though, so it is hard to prove anything. I always wore a beard and messy hair when I went to halls in foreign lands [out of the county] so I was harder to track. ;)
