Looking for Dave Egdahl

Dave from Mass came down to NJ and installed a table in my house for top $$ last May. I paid in full and then found out they f'ed up the job. While Dave did come back once to look at the problem (and pick up my trade in table, btw), he didn't actually do anything about it. That was in August. After numerous unanswered calls to him and his mechanic, I'm tired of tracking him down by phone. Does anybody know Dave's whereabouts and/or can ask him to call me and/or fix the damn table? I paid a fair price and tipped his guys nicely. I expect too much, I suppose.

maybe you shouldnt have let him take the trade in table till he fixed it.

Of course, but the problem was not visible until I had time to play some on the table. Everything looked fine. He had my money before I even realized that he wasn't actually taking the old table away with him. Had I known he was going to leave the table in my garage, I would have held back some cash. It was a struggle just to get him back to pick up the table. Oh, he took the rails with him the first time because that's all I think he really wanted from the table. Eventually after many calls he did pick up the table.

Updated as of Dec 5, 2014. Thanks for the help from forum members. Dave called me back tonight and confirmed that he was going to fix the problem, 100%. He reminded me that he did leave a spare bolt of cloth with me. That was my assurance that they were going to come back. I told Dave that when they actually do the work, things are fine (the two errors I have notwithstanding). The real problem is the time frame: table dropped off in my garage in April (I think?), table assembled in my basement in May with my old table stored in my garage in May, old table picked up in late AUGUST, and now in December no repair of the problem has been done or is even on the horizon. In August, Dave assured they'd be back in a week or two, certainly before Labor Day to fix the problem (maybe he meant Labor Day 2015?). Each return trip was promised in a week or two and turned out to be two to three months.

I consider myself very reasonable in these kinds of transactions but when a vendor doesn't return calls or provide voluntary updates, what am I supposed to do? I do like Dave. He's an interesting guy, and really knows his trade. It's a shame that things are tainted by blown schedules.

Thanks again to everybody who helped get my issue on Dave's radar.

I think I misread your post the first time. I was glad after nearly 4 months just to get the table out of my garage. I was planning a garage renovation, and was convinced by Dave that they were coming right back to make the repair. Never did the renovation as weather got too cold by that point.

Done!

Just to close the loop on this for the future, Dave did finally come back with an excellent mechanic and made the necessary repairs a couple of weeks ago (end of March). Dave made good on his promise.....eventually!

The table rolls perfectly. I guess all's well that ends well.

Thanks to the people here who pm'ed me.

Dave Egdahl

Glad to hear that they got every thing taken care of for you.

Dave and Carl did a superior job on putting my 1945 Brunswick Centennial together. Carl was very professional and very deliberate in getting everything "just right" . . . AND yes the timeframe that was originally outlined came and went before the job was done - but the end results was all that you could ask for.

Isn't Dave part of D&L Billiards from RI not Mass?

The did the Snookers tables, and most of those play great, aside from a few that are too fast to control.

This industry is just amazing. Hopefully you don't have to wait another six months to have anything else done.

A friend paid a local guy up front to recover two tables. One excuse after another, eventually almost three months of waiting. I got referred to someone else and had both her tables and mine scheduled and done within about a week, at a good price as well! Right after setting that up, another offered to take longer and charge me more because of a "simonis shortage".

Sometimes truth is stranger than fiction.

This was factual, a few weeks back.

No, that's Dave Christie

Dave Egdahl used to own Brighton Billiards. He and Carl are the only ones I call when it comes to my table. Great people.

Ah, that's where I know that name from, Brighton was my favorite pool room I've been in so far.

Small, smokey, waiting list, filled with good players, good tables and good burgers.

Used to go there almost weekly when I was playing a lot (but very badly compared to now LOL) in the late 80s and 90s.

I will second this, as Dave and Carl rebuilt a new set of matching rails for my gold crown, pockets were modified/sub rails extended. I couldn't be happier with the work and the rails play spot on in every way.

They were extremely knowledgeable and very helpful with all questions and concerns. It was a great experience to learn from them.

That was before my time in pool years so I missed out on it, sadly.
Renaissance in Quincy was in full swing by the time I got around to it.
