Looking for feedback on this case concept.

Hey, there's an idea for a 3rd insert

If you ever listen to Joe Rogan's podcast then you know what the FleshLite (sp???) is. I could certainly make an insert for that but I don't think that the client would want it advertised on here........

John,

The video is very cool! It "shows" the explanation. I really like the spacers you do as well. They can be modified and moved extremely easy.

Looking forward in hearing from Karen.

Thanks in advance for all your hard work,

Bob B.

I'd like two things that may fit into this concept.

First, I would like to use an SBK case for musical keyboards, the C3209 (http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SKBC3209), as a cue case shell. SKB makes sturdy, attractive cases for a variety of uses. I think the C3209 would make a nice modern cue case, and I see nothing like it in the box cue case world. The interior dimensions are 32" x 9" x 4", and needs to be customized as a cue case interior. So separately available interiors might solve that problem.

Second, I would like to be able to remove and swap around interiors - but not just ones designed for that case. For example, sometimes I would like to just slide one or two cloth (or leather) cue sleeves into a hard exterior like you show. They would be loose, but I could work with that. Or you could work an improved soft cue sleeve into the mix of interiors you offer. I guess there's a reason the dividers in those sleeves go across, instead of front to back, but I don't see what it is.

I love it

So far I just love this case.
It is not even a week old yet.

If you all want some pictures of the the interiors I can post them.
Just let me know what you want to see.

This thing is a tank. I say that is a good way. This is exactly what I wanted.

I waited a long time for this but it is finally here. Well worth the wait.

It is hands down the best case I have ever owned or seen first hand.

THIS CASE IS AWESOME!

Ok, time for some feedback.

This is a case we did for a customer that wanted a really long one. This case is 36" long and made to fit his 35" custom Schon.

So the challenge was making a case that works equally well for regular sized cues and the long cue.

And there were a few other things that Tom wanted, like a space for his extension, double sleeve for his jump cue, special spot for the magnetic chalk holder.

But the part I want to show off is my new concept in interiors. I have developed a removable interior that looks and works like a permanently installed one.

So Tom agreed to be the first person to allow me to experiment on him. I made him two interiors. One is a regular 4x8 and the other one is a 3x6 with a space for his extension.

I really want to extend this concept to all my cases eventually. I feel that it is a super innovation on many levels because it allows the user to deal with any problems, to change it out if they don't like the colors, change the configuration, and allows others to make aftermarket versions if they think that they can offer something worthwhile to the market.

So I devised the cassette method where the tube and the exterior are tightly integrated and the interior fits in like a cassette. I like this for a couple reasons. The big one is that I can use the tube to attach handles and lids and bottoms for increased strength. This means that the case has less moving parts and will be more durable and easy to fix if something should break. It also allows me more latitude in decoration by having the ability to use the tube as the foundation to essentially bolt all sorts of "creations" to it securely.

So enough talk, tell me what you think if you feel like it.

John,
Your an absolute legend. I cannot wait to have a case made by you. I am sure as soon as I get work Ill be calling on your expertise and master craftsmanship to build me a nice case. I already spent several hours in your gallery. I cannot wait to work with you and get a Felix The Cat face put onto it. And seeing how incredible your team is I know I will be happy with the product you send out.
Please keep up the great work. I think your top class, both as a craftsman and as a person. Cheers

It's amazing the extent to which you are willing and able to customize a case.

The cassette interior is a really nice idea, especially for an expensive tooled case where a lot of custom effort has been put into the exterior and you would hate to buy a whole new case if your interior needs change. Even if you figure that you'll never need another configuration, it's nice insurance to know it's replaceable. I don't know about taking it out to wash it - washing might cause a problem or two with the foam, etc. - but if the interior got really dirty somehow you could buy a new interior without breaking the bank.

You really put a lot of thought into things, for example, the spacer. In your case you can just grab the fabric and just pull it out. I have an almost new case from another maker where I jammed his spacers into the tubes for my shorter-than-usual butt and shafts. Now I'd like to sell the case but I know I will probably have a devil of a time getting those spacers out prior to sale.

Congratulations on a great new innovation!

@John Barton,

tried several times to pm you.but not successful. If you have a bit time, write a pm to me John:)

Excellent idea John! I should say another excellent idea. I love your 2x5 / 3x4 interior. Keep the ideas coming.

Nice concept of interchangeability. I am certain you will providing some extra interiors. It adds value to your and your customers product.

Cleanliness is a key feature. So if you can put the interiors in the wash or clean at a dry cleaners it is a big plus.

I notice that the shafts are inserted tip down. The old guys at the hall always wiped excess chalk off on the rug before inserting them. So do I. Still chalk creeps into the case. I would prefer tip up, but I understand your concept of a tight fitting interior.

A very nice innovative interior to go along with exquisite exteriors.

Profits to you John. Finding another niche is the mark of a businessman. The use of videos is also smart.

Prosper.

Great idea, John.
I have a Wave case in the 3X4 / 2X5 configuration. One of the things I like about it, in addition to the flexibility, is the opportunity to put my shafts in joint-down, minimizing the chalk residue in the tubes. I actually carry it more often than my 2X4 Instroke buffalo because of the interior. With this interior, I could remove it and clean the tubes from time to time. If it becomes a regular item in your line, any chance I could buy an interior and fit it to my Instroke? Aside from a brand new JB case, that would be my "wish" case.

Bill
