Looking for Gold Crown

I’m in the market for a Gold Crown. My choices so far are a IV, a new VI or a new Black Wolf. What are the pros and cons? It’s being installed in a new 20’ x 40’ shop/garage. I’m a shortstop player who’s very serious about the game.

BlackWolf is not anywhere in same ballpark as a GC. Start checking ads in your area, on-line, Craigslist and on here. They're out there you just gotta track one down. on here now: https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/brunswick-gold-crown-4-for-sale-3250-00.567243/ nice table

It’s all about the set up. My .02 is buy new. A used 4 will most likely need cushions. New is new. New 6 or the Centennial

HUH?? A new GC is over 12grand. Insane. That one i linked to is in great shape. New rubber-n-cloth isn't that much if needed.

Your post is on track..I’m not arguing anything. If a buyer can afford new buy new. That’s a fair reply. They did ask. Honestly I cannot stand the GC6 appearance and a would buy GC4 over it.

I wanted a new table a few years ago and went with the Diamond. My target was a restored GC. The 2 builders obviously could not commit to a finish/delivery/install date so I went with the Diamond.

As for a player I’m realizing my game rating. There are
Pros
ShortStops
Intermediates
Beginners.
Turn Short Stop Round and that’s my game. A Stop Short.

Buy what can be afforded. Your advice about the Black Wolf is 👍

I played on a new 6 this summer for a few days and it was super nice. The play was exactly like my home GC4, or any other Gold Crown.

If you’re loaded, I’d buy new. If frugal, get a 4 and put new simonis. Most likely it won’t need cushions. They last decades.

This is not a Gold Crown but a similar style Brunswick for auction in Ohio:
Brunswick Auction.

IV was the peak of the GC mountain. I’ve played both a 5 and a 6 before, but I don’t know. Maybe just nostalgia, I prefer the IV. When I build my next game room, it’s a black GCIV with high polished legs and corner castings. 4 3/4” pockets, GC style light painted black with a led panel.

Just take your time and shop around, I bought a almost new GC5 for 2300.
Deals are out there but you have to be fast when you find them!

if a true short stop get a gold crown or diamond.

if its just a saying meaning a learning okay player, the get any table that fits in the style of your place and plays well.
with larger pockets so you learn all the nuances of position using the whole pocket. and wont get frustrated missing and hanging too many balls. and others you play with will have fun on the table.

On behalf of all seekers,
"Thanks".

As of 8/28, he had sold all of them, except one. Going, going . . .
I didn't think they'd last long. I just saw the post and linked it here. It didn't say how many he had left. Even tho the 3 has its issues they are still great tables. Do a RKC frame mod., toss on some cloth and new rubber and you're still in for waaaaay lest than a new GC/Diamond.

Say what🎱 You’re a shortstop and very serious player and you don’t know the answer already🤣

Just to rehash a thousand other threads, a matte black GC4 spots any other GC the 6 and out. Black Wolf, just go buy a bumper pool table for the kids😂

The fact that you mention a Black Wolf in comparison to a Gold Crown speaks volumes.
