looking for info on a decent set of pool balls....

I bought 4 sets of these for our community pool room. No complaints. Nothing wrong with these. Decent set for the $$$

FYI these are the ones I have for my home table and they're pretty nice. Then again, at my level I probably wouldn't be able to tell the diffence :o

I would really like to get a set of the Aramith Tournament balls. I think they look awesome  But I wonder if the quality/playability is also improved?

I just got mine a week ago and I had a cheap set of Vigmas that had lost all their shine, and the difference is significant.

meaning i dont want to spend 300 dollars on a set of balls....and if you new where i played any set would be better....there equipment sucks and it is never clean...i spend the first 20 minutes cleaning the table and balls before i even pull out my cue...the bonus to the place is, it is close and i normally dont have a ton of time to play...so with being said i dont want to spend the extra time cleaning there equipment would just like to show up and wipe down table and begin to play...hope that answers your reply..mark thanks for the reply i will continue to look around for a set in that price range...
I guess I have been pretty lucky with most poolrooms around here. They usually take pretty good care of the balls and the balls are usually a quality set.
Bars on the other hand usually don't. Taking your own there usually is not an option.
I would imagine if the local room sucks then I would do the same and bring my own too!

ok once again...the pool halls balls SUCK....THEY ARE CHIPPED AND PIECES OF CRAP....LIKE I SAID EARLIER IN MY POST I DONT CARE ABOUT BUYING A 300 SET OF BALLS TO PLAY TWICE A MONTH...but i would like to have a decent set to take to the hall....please dont crap on my thread...i asked a simple question and some have given great answers...wish i could say it was you

im sorry you didnt think my post was helpfull
if you buy the best you have them a lifetime
and you should pay less than $300
others ideas to buy them used and/or on ebay were good suggestions
for $70 the aramith balls at that price range will probably suit your needs

As a reference, I bought a set of Duramith balls (aramith Tournament balls) for $225 in early Dec, brand new. You just have to google around the net for the bets deals. Could have gotten a second set of SuperPros for $210.

If you play league or compete regularly at one pool hall and compete at another, the difference in balls can affect your game.

Where I play league they use Aramith balls and a Aramith measles cue ball. Where I practice they use different balls. The cue ball in particular is noticeably lighter and slightly smaller.

The lighter cue ball draws more but follows less than the measles ball. This made position and speed control practice difficult. At the advice of my instructor I bought a measles cue ball for use at my practice hall. Made an immediate improvement in my CB control. Still debating whether to buy a full Aramith set.
