Looking for information on this cue

I'm curious after having several people look at my cue and tell me its worth....from $200-$300. Are they yanking my chain?

I tried to find anything on Dufferin but all I found was a bunch of cheap cues and no information on this one in particular.

It has 711 on the butt, with a suede/leather double kind of wrap. I believe it's 20 oz. in weight. I paid $24.95 at a pawn shop for it and it had never been chalked. Anyone have an opinion?

congratulations ! You should move the pictures of your cue to the pawn shop thread , because you now also have one of the screamin' pawn shop deals !

This is one of the newer Japanese made Dufferins , as noted by the script name on the buttcap instead of the inset medallion in the butt wood which would indicate Canadian manufacture .
None of the wholesalers I do business with list the model 711 , but Dufferin model #s appear to get higher with the complexity of the cue , with 200 series cues available in the $40-$50 range , 300 series cues in the $50-$70 range , and 500 series cues in the $90-$120 range . All are manufactured with hard maple shafts , the wood for which is still supplied by the Canadian lumber company which was originally the cue-makers parent company .
I can't see clearly enough in your picture , but yours appears to have the uni-lock type joint with stainless collar . Combined with the suede/leather wrap , it makes for a very attractive , playable cue which probably originally retailed in the $140-$175 range .
That's a screamin' deal for $24.95 !!!
You probably got such a great deal because the pawnbroker , unable to research the 711 model number or 700 series , valued it as a 200 series cue .
Hope this helps . Of course , it could be valued higher , based on the anything the traffic will bear theory - i.e. , the next time someone says it's a $300 dollar cue , you could let them "steal" it from you for $250 , right ? 900% profit . . . .
but I get the feeling from your other posts that you're not that kind of a hustler . . . .

I'm not a hustler at all.:o Furthermore, I love the way it plays and wouldn't sell it (it's better than my first cue: a $100 Black Widow cue in red.)

I like the leather grip.......mmmmmm........leather.

Thanks for the information. We have a lot of pawn shops here and I cruise them once every couple of weeks. Soon they'll see me coming and just get them all down for me.

I need a book about cue identification, pricing, etc. Are there any out there?
