Looking for Instructor in Vegas

Hi

I'm a one-time casual player who is now seriously looking to improve my game and would like to take some lessons from an instructor before I start putting in hours of time practicing/reinforcing bad habits. I've searched and read all the old threads on here regarding instructors in Vegas but I think they must have all moved on, because no one has responded to any of my inquiries for a lesson.

If anyone knows a respectable instructor in Vegas or are planning to give lessons here anytime soon, please let me know.

Thanks very much!

i beleive max eberle is in vegas

Yeah I actually called Best Billiards and his name came up. But I kinda got the impression I needed a higher skillset before getting a lesson from him.

The person I talked to on the phone wasn't rude or anything, but seemed to think I was clueless when she asked what my rating was and I said I didn't know what that meant. (Which wasn't wrong of her to think - I AM clueless)

Thanks though

Andrew...

Contact Max directly, rather than be dissuaded by someone who answered the phone at Best Billiards.

You and Max can make the decision of what to work on, and at what pace.

Max posts here on AZB, has his own website, and maybe Best Billiards can pass on your contact information to Max. Don't know...maybe there is a 'referral' structure via Best Billiards where BB is in the loop for scheduling, etc.

Try to get hold of Max...

good luck on the journey

Thanks for the encouragement.

I actually think I want to practice 2-3 hours a day for a couple weeks before getting lessons. That way I can (hopefully) maximize my time with the instructor and I don't have to waste precious time being corrected on stupid issues that I can work out on my own. In the meantime, just been reading thru all the old threads on here and trying to incorporate all the good instructors tips/advice in these threads.

Thanks!

That's like cleaning your house because the housekeeper is coming. Seriously, though, a couple of weeks won't make much difference. Go for it.

Hah well you're probably right that it won't do much one way or the other.

But then again, I feel like I've learned a ton of new things just from reading this board for the past week so you never know!

(This SPF technique was like a lightbulb going off in my head. So simple yet so effective!)

Andrew...Glad SPF is working for you. You might wish to pick up a copy of our instructional dvd, Play Better Pool, Vol. 1, Mastering the Fundamentals. You can easily find it on Amazon.com. That will give you a really solid understanding of what SPF really is, and how to make it work for you (not quite as good as a personal lesson from Randyg or myself...but the next best thing!). :D BTW, we'll both be in Vegas next summer for the BCAPL national tournament.

Send me a PM. I'd be happy to meet both of you for a small group lesson or as individuals. I need to revisit a friend in Vegas so it's a good trip for me. Thanks.

Well, it's smart of you to look for a good instructor but that will cost you. I know when I first started playing, I never asked ANYONE anything. I held a cue wrong for a year, my body wrong, just about everything I did was wrong. Then one day a pro player took me aside and told me with that stance and bad habits, I have, my game will only go so far. He worked with me for a little while. My game actually got worse but after following his instructions, my game took off. I passed the speed I use to play and well exceeded my thoughts of where I thought my pool game could go. THE LESSONS made all the difference in the world. Stick to your guns and get a good instructor. Oh yea, that's NOT ME in my picture profile.
