looking for mexican coco for cue

I have about a dozen 3" x 4" x 48" cants of the stuff that have been stacked in my shop for over 20 years.

Went to a hardwood supplier in North San Diego yesterday to shop for a few guys in my network. Cocobolo is on CITIES list and the supply coming in from Mexico has decreased drastically. Prices have increased exponentially! There were very few pieces of cocobolo to look at and non instrument lumber in board form was in 60-80 a board foot and up. Lots of users switching to grenadillo, bocote, ziricote and camatillo rosewood. It will take a while for cue buyers to comprehend that highly figured cocobolo is a valuable, harder to obtain and costly wood. The Chinese have a voracious and unsatiable appetite for exotic woods and cocobolo is just the latest casualty.

Considering primo Coco, not to mention quilted(good luck!), is becoming a commodity it really isn't hard to spend a hundred bucks on it....

If memory serves, I believe Jerry said he paid over 2 grand for the piece he used in this cue. I don't know how many cues he got out of it, but I want to say it wasn't more than six. He says people request that kind of cue more than all his other offerings. Guess what? He's never found another piece like it....

In two weeks I will be at a exotic wood store in Reno.
Most of the time there wood in not where I would shop for a eye catcher piece of wood. but I did pick up some nice pieces of cocobolo from them one time.
If you want to Pm me your PH # and when I am down there if I find something that I think you would like I can give you a call and help make the arrangements to get the wood to you................................
