Hey all,

I'm looking for an old hustling video that Jimmy Mataya helped with, I dont know the name of it or any other details, but I do have a small video clip of it here:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zugw7OEZSe0

Jimmy Mataya and Danny Medina matching up and Danny "getting hustled". I heard there is more to this video and would like to get my hands on it.

Thanks in advanced.

This is from a video he did in the mid 1980s I think. It's called something like, "How to Hustle Pool". It is easily the funniest hour of film you'll ever see in your life.

Some choice quotes:

"You can't go to a bank and put down trophies as collateral."

"You want to keep eating peanut butter-and-jelly your whole life, or do you want lobster? I want lobster, and I want to take you with me!"

"Watch out for the room owner though. Don't run any hustles while she's around... she's one tough customer."

I don't think he shows a single instructional shot. He does however play a character named "Pete the Painter", which is without question the most insane thing you'll witness in your entire life.

Definitely my favorite part - some pool detective gives Jimmy a tip, in hopes of a gapper. Jimmy, all decked out and wearing probably at least two pinky rings, says something like, "Cmon, clean yourself up. Get a job, have a shave. You look terrible." And then he flips the guy a hundred. But he's taking himself seriously.

This tape is something special.

I would guess if you could get in touch with Jimmy he has it or can tell you where to get it. Johnnyt

I have seen some for sale, but don't remember where. I know that helps you out a lot! :o I have a copy somewhere. If you would like to borrow it, I would be willing to send it to you. Just pay for the shipping, which I don't think would be much. If my brain starts working and I remember where I have seen them for sale, I will let you know.

ebay

Go to ebay; I found one about 6 months ago. The tape is an absolute HOOT!! Regards, Kennyratt

I have a VHS that is something like that. It's not the one posted above, but real close. I can mail it to you if you want since I will probably never watch it again. Let me know. It is Jimmy Mataya.

I think they just changed the title and maybe the packaging. Mine is definitely not called that but I'm sure we're talking about the same tape.

I don't think it's the same tape. In the tape in the photo, Mataya pretends he's not a player, wins a bar table tournament at the opener, and one time pretends he just won a fishing tournament playing Medina. I don't remember him being Pete the Painter, nor do I remember him having any cheeky dialog.

Definitely not the same tape.

I think the "Pete the painter" character is on the "Secrets of Pool Hustling" video. I am chuckling as I typed that. It's a very comical video, although I think he intended his video to be more as an instructional on different hustling schemes.

This is from Danny Medina's video tape. He gave it to me himself. I still have it somewhere...

Cheers,
RC
