I'll be in Palm Harbor for a week next month and was wondering if anyone knew of decent pool rooms out there.

Strokers is a great room - Hammerheads is just up the road a bit (it is an absolutely beautiful room!) - go a little further up the road, take a right and you'll find Capone's (in Spring Hill) - Capone's is one of the best rooms you will ever find. Have a blast!

Blackjack covered it pretty well for you. I lived there a couple of years. PM me if you need help with directions.

Clearwater has the oldest ..

Family Billiards which wasn't and probably still isn't even in the phone book but it is an old landmark where you could find Ray Martin there playing with the owner Eric Baker every morning. Ray and Eric travel some of the tours together. Tony Crosby, Donnie Mills, Bennie the Goose Jr. and others use to make it a stop on their rounds looking for a little action when I was there up until 2004. It is a small 10 table room. Don't actually know if it is still around as there was some major road expansion coming through nearby when I left the area and the owner might have sold for the big bucks. It is your classic 60's era no frills poolroom with old 4 or 5 double and triple shimmed GC2s or 3s and beer iced down in an igloo cooler because after the glass front fridge died, people liked their beer on ice better, so why fix the cooler? If you plan to head to Clearwater Beach, you might want to stop just for the heck of it for a cheap cold one and possibly meet Ray Martin. Hope it is still there.

If you're really interested meeting a legend, you can contact Ray Martin via this forum - Ray posts in the straight pool forum almost every day - his screen name "ghostball".

Gotta love the internet!

Hammerheads

Hi:
Hammerheads is in Holday,Florida on US19 north.
About 2 miles or so north of the Pineallas county-
Pasco county line.

If you get down to the st pete area, i recommend sticking your head into this hole in the wall bar called the Flamingo. Its a bar with a number of pool tables and probably the most action of any pool spot in St Pete. The owner Dale likes the game and will put players into the box on occasion. I know all the top players have been in there.

A few AZBers play out of there as well.

It's still there. I was just there recently. Nice clean place, nice tables. Little more expensive than the other rooms around here. I see Ray Martin at The Corner Pocket and Side Pocket Billiards occasionally also.

Nice to hear that Family Billiards is still around.

I just found out today Ray is on AZ as Ghostball. I'll pm him sometime. Thanks for the update.

How about the fort myers area? I may be in that area in February.

Diamond Billiards in Cape Coral - they are having a Viking Tour event next weekend.

In Fort Myers you have Towne Billiards - Action Billiards - 8 Ball Lounge and IIRC - a place called Miscue Lounge.
