Looking for Thoughts on price of Diveney Cues....

Bingo

I know Pat and Brian buy the best materials they can get their hands on for the cues they make. I'm glad they enjoy the sales success and good reputation they so rightly deserve.

Local player Santos Sambijon has been playing quite sporty with a Diveney cue for about 5 or so years. Same cue. If it was a turd cue he would have discarded it long ago. What is overpriced to you might be a bargain to someone else. Move on to a lower priced cue or cuemaker if price is your guiding concern. There's no shortage of excellent cues both new and used at all kinds of price points As was already mentioned, not the right place for this thread anyway.

Martin nailed it, sounds like op needs to move on to a cheaper cue.

They are not overpriced. I have three currently and have owned six total. Many many players not collectors own several of his cues. That should tell you about price. If the concern of his cues prices are cosmetic in nature ex. Inlays etc that's not what his cues are known for. The only thing I could say bad if anything is how long it took him to make the last set of Lakewood shafts I ordered. However Im impatient and he has more orders than just mine. So I doubt it's a valid complaint. He is also one hell of a nice guy.

Post it up

To appease some forum police here is a picture of a nice Al Blackwell cue...this cue features some sweet ass bacote and a simple buttsleeve of ebony with curly Koa windows .......as a side note lets talk about Diveney cues.

Just don't see how his cues are being priced......way to high IMO....top tier prices
2nd tier maker..

if you had one of pat's cues to sell, would you be saying this?

Dammn right lol.
Momma has always told me we have a choice in life, dont like Diviney , DON'T BUY IT ! ain't nobody putting a gun to ur mouth buddy.
Last time i spoke to him, he's making cues for biado, corteza, efren, busty but efren n busty still in dilemma due to contractual issues.
Svb used to play with pat before his contract and same goes for Orcollo.
Overpriced ? The man's charging me 700 for a wrapless bem and ebony cue which is the same price range for Keith Josey and Jeff Olney or Rick Howard.
Are ya telling me these cuemakers are overpriced too ?
What his cue commands in the 2nd hand market are outta Pat's control .
Besides people are forking out 20 grand and more for Gina , which basically is still a cue, does that make Ernie's cue WAY OVERPRICED ?!

Good luck buddy :)

Yeah they are overpriced everyone needs to sell me their Diveney cues for $100 apiece.

I have a simple Diveney cue and it plays awesome, and both of the shafts don't have a sign of wood grain in them they are perfect. Bottom line is I wanted one and I got it for what I thought was a fair price and thats all that matters to me.

I'm pretty certain Efran was using a Diveney at the One Pocket event a few months back in NJ. Pat makes some amazing cues and his prices are about right. Glad I have the 2 beauties in my collection.

Kinda funny, all I hear about is how low his prices are for how good his worksmanship and how good his cues hit. This thread strikes me as a bit ridiculous considering that I've never, ever heard a bad word about his cues and some of the best players in the world are known to have used them. When I think of overpriced cuemakers, Pat Diviney is probably the third-to-last one I'd think of behind Jerry R. and Bob Frey.

Plus you're just throwing someone under the bus for no reason which clearly makes you, for lack of an expletive, a butt head.

Yeah, I imagine that for $500 to $600, you will not find a better quality or better hitting cue then a Pat Diveney. His sneaky style cues start at around $500 I think, and they are worth every penny (and probably should cost much more money). I could not imagine a better hitting cue then a Pat Diveney. No disrespect to any other cue makers. I honestly have not had the opportunity to hit with many cue makers cues that I would love to try out someday (like a Nitti, or a Mottey, or a Lambros to name a few that I would love to try out someday). Many other great cue makers out there. I think that Diveney makes a really great hitting cue, that players can actually afford to buy (at a starting price of around $500 for one of his sneaky pete cues, which look amazing by the way, with the highly figured BEM that he puts into the forearm). For $500, they are by far the best, I imagine (for a new custom sneaky, direct from the cue maker). I love his higher end cues too, and they really hold their value, and for good reason (in my opinion).

I don't think his cues are over priced at all in fact they are the best hitting cues I have ever played with

Never hit one I wouldn't play with. They make good cues, and I can think of plenty of makers that are over priced in comparison.
