I would like to say price doesn't matter but for a starvin college student who is only getting into competitive play recently it is. I have been searching for a specific break cue but only find j/b's. i already have a jump cue so no need for that. ANy ideas on an affordable break cue? around 150 dollar max?? thanks.

spend a litttle more and get the OB break cue

Yeah, OB Break is the way to go. The money you spend on that is money you'll never have to spend again on a cue.

If money is an issue get a used McDermott or Viking or Joss cue (just plain playing cue of good quality) and put a hard tip on it.

Before all the specialized break cues, people made their old cues into break cues, with just a harder tip.

i'd just save up for either a Predator BK2, Mezz PowerBreak II, or OB Break cue. If you only got 150, I'd just get something cheap like a J&J if you need something to tide you over. this model isn't a j/b and i hear it is pretty good for the price (http://www.billiardwarehouse.com/cues/jump_break/jj_sb1.htm) Or recycle any old cue with a stiff shaft and put a hard tip on it. I'd recommend a Samsara tip, they are the absolute best!
