Looks like you are getting your pool movie....

She had her breakout on TV. She starred in the reboot of the Addams family franchise as the titular character ‘Wednesday.’ That was a Netflix “tv” series. She was also the lead in the reboot of Beatlejuice.

She also has been in a handful of other films in the last few years on Netflix.
Probably shouldn't say this, but I like De Niro. Lends a certain Gravitas to his character. Is he right for this movie?? Idk. His age alone being a factor. Probably the biggest name casting could get for the budget they had to work with. Who knows. I'm for anything that gives this game exposure on the national and world level. I hope the flick is a success.

Completely incredible.

I think a movie about McGoorty (Depression era) could work pretty well. There is already a script. Colorful characters and interesting situations.
This is absolutely the right choice. It would be hilarious and exciting. I can’t wait to see the mallet scene at the doctor’s.

Freddie <~~~ maybe I can wait

he is great. and will draw a huge response so the movie wont just slide out of sight.

my favorite movie of his was midnight run.

John Voight would be a good choice. He can play and can play that role. DeNiro? Don't know.
Voigt's politics are somewhere between Attila the Hun and Stephen Miller, but if he'd been given the De Niro role I wouldn't have had any problem with it.

I'm a huge fan of Hollywood Golden Age movies, and half of my favorite actors / actresses in those films were Democrats* and half of them were Republicans.** Knowing their off-screen political opinions has never stopped me from enjoying their acting, any more than I care who Shane Van Boening or Tyler Styer voted for.

* Bogart, Katharine Hepburn, Robert Ryan, Richard Widmark, Ida Lupino, Burt Lancaster, etc.

** Jimmy Stewart, Barbara Stanwyck, Robert Montgomery, Joan Blondell, Robert Taylor, Robert Mitchum, and so on.

remember what svb said about barack obama when justin asked him in 2008/2009?
No idea, and no particular interest in knowing what he said. About the only pool player whose political opinions I'm aware of is Jay Helfert's, and maybe I should quit while I'm ahead. Jay's comments on Facebook are spot on.

Shane says, "He can't beat me".
Ah, but can Shane shoot behind his back while playing lefthanded?

Agreed! Any pool themed movie with DeNiro can’t be a bad thing to increase exposure for the game. I thought he was awesome in the mini series Zero Day, currently on Netflix.

However, it does seem to be a storyline that has already been used in a number of previous pool movies.

I think making a movie about someone that actually lived and hustled pool, in other words a real life character,
would result in a film that better connects with viewers generally but especially with pool aficionados & devotees.

There’s always going to be fictionalization in any storyline since the film wasn’t intended to be autobiographical.
However, it allows the film writers to introduce & imagine how other notable figures in pool lore actually behaved.

There was a movie made named Lawless. Tom Hardy, Shia Le Bouef, Guy Pearce, & Gary Oldman were the male
stars. It was a periodic piece reflective of Prohibition and moon shiners. This is the time period for a pool movie.

If you made a film set in that time period, America would welcome it with open arms and hearts. For some reason,
the period between WWI and WW II has added fascination & interest. Maybe it was because of gangsters & bad boys.

Anyway, Shia Le Bouef in that film was the ideal age for a lead character in a new movie about pool back in the 30’s.
I’m not sure who should be the lead actors but I believe a movie theme set in that time period would be well received.
