Lori Shooting Pool

No need to start squabbling in this thread. I started it because I always liked and respected Lori as a player and gambler. She got a bad break in life and left us too early. Here's a nice pic of her;

Dear Troublemaker Breath,

There was no squabbling, until another female felt she needed to defend her!..Very nice looking gal, wish I'd gotten to meet her!...And I'm sure she was a force in women's pool!..

PS..Please note, I did not say 'mop squeezer' pool! ;)

I don't know who the hell you are or why you would speak such a way of one of our beloved deceased players. It's clear to see that you are a low class act.

For the short time that she competed, Lori gave Jean Balukas a run for her money in women's pro tournaments and did beat her as well. Any male C level player would have been stupid to play her without getting substantial weight.

Dick was making a joke as Dennis is his favorite whipping boy.....

For us that know SJD, and have been around forums for years, he wasnt being disrespectful to Lori I promise you that.....

Disrespectful to Dennis, yep all the time. But Dennis gets his "jabs" in too.

(AND YES, FREDDY HAD THE HOTS FOR LORI, and I have heard it numerous times.)

I see now. It's just a clear case of using Lori as the subject of an insulting joke in order to make fun of someone else.

Got it. Makes perfect sense.

Hey, welcome to adulting! You picked it up very quickly.

FWIW: having been born in 1980 and not picking up the game pre-birth, I have enjoyed this thread and hearing about Lori and the state of the game at that time.

Met the ladies in the WPBA in Lincoln City, Oregon a few years back and have nothing but nice things to say about all the ladies. Their game was phenomenal, they were also very approachable and polite to us amateur ball bangers. But would love to hear how they deal with the "boys club" that is most pool halls and what kind of $$$ action they get from guys who don't think much of their game.

Full disclosure: Was shot down by Jasmin Ouschan, but the crush continues!

Maybe that is why you should stay in the kitchen, instead of invading a 99% male pool forum!..I've noticed in most of your posts, you seem to be bit**ing about something!..If you don't really understand our humor, why can't you just ignore us, and let it go?

PS..BTW, according to Titanic Thompson, 'mop squeezer' was a term of endearment! :p

Thank you for welcoming me into "adulting:" and FWIW, no, I imagine you would not have picked up the game pre-birth.

FWIW, I've met both men and women pro players who are very nice.

I have known 2 women I would consider "shortstop" speed that purposely prayed on men for gambling. (They didn't know each other and this was in different cities)

They both said that men's egos wouldn't let a woman beat them for money. Now I am sure that they weren't playing great players, but both of these "ladies" played near military bases following paydays.

My favorite line that Lori was supposed to have said to Jean Balukas trying to get her to gamble was, "I'll shoot your ovaries off!" I think it was John Brumback that told that story as he was an observer at the time.....

Lori must have been a disciple of Cornbread Red, as he always wanted to have the other person betting out of their comfort zone. For those Detroit folks, please correct me if I am wrong on any of that.

Regards,

Ken

Cornbread told me that story at the Rack....Lori was there also.
....she didn't deny it.

In a room full of woofers, Lori could hold her own.

Fran Crimi Honored with Billiard Congress of America 2008 President’s Award

Each year the Billiard Congress of America (BCA) recognizes an outstanding individual who has made significant contributions to the billiard industry with the presentation of the BCA President’s Award. This year the BCA has chosen to recognize Fran Crimi, BCA Instructor Program administrator and BCA senior delegate to the World-Pool Billiard Association (WPA).

Fran Crimi will receive the President's Award from the Billiard Congress America.
Fran Crimi will receive the President's Award from the Billiard Congress America.

Crimi, a former pro player and previous president of the Women’s Professional Billiards Association, is responsible for the oversight and management of the BCA Instructor Program. Crimi works closely with each instructor to ensure that his or her certification is maintained on a yearly basis. She has worked to make the BCA a place where instructors can go for advice and to obtain their credentials, as well as a resource where players can turn when they are looking for a legitimate and qualified instructor. In fact, Crimi herself is a BCA Master Instructor, which is the highest level of certification that can be obtained in the program.

In her role as a BCA senior delegate to the WPA, Crimi works closely with the BCA’s WPA Committee to provide input back to the WPA on various issues, including the player selection process for international events, rules and specifications issues, potential scenarios for hosting international events in North America and other timely topics paramount to the sport and industry. In this capacity, she also represents the BCA at all WPA Board of Directors meetings and at the bi-annual General Assembly.

Crimi recently played a significant role in the WPA World Junior 9-Ball Championships and WPA World 9-Ball Championships for Wheelchair Players hosted in Reno, Nev., the first week of December. Crimi, in partnership with the United States Pool Players Association, was responsible for several logistical items related to both events, including booking player travel and accommodations, management of tournament brackets, securing event sponsorships and player awards distribution.

“Fran’s dedication of time, talent and resources to the BCA, her willingness to work cooperatively and her personal commitment to the betterment of the billiard industry make her the obvious choice for this award,” said Ivan Lee, chairman of the BCA Board of Directors. “Fran is a highly-respected and well-known member of the billiard community. Her experience as the former head of the WPBA and as a BCA Master Instructor make her the ideal liaison to the WPA and manager of the BCA Instructor Program. Fran was chosen for both of these roles because of her litany of credentials and strong work ethic. She is truly an integral member of the BCA team.”

You both love pool and it shows:).

She must have been good to hang with Jean. I played Jean two games to 125 in Queens, NY and she crushed me both games and I was a 100 ball runner back then. I think we just played for time...I hope. Johnnyt

So she received an award, for all the [sic] 'good' [sic] things the BCA has done for pool?..She may be a good person, a great player, and a hard worker, but her BCA affiliation does not impress me at all!..I don't know why the BCA is not called, the BIA. (Billiard Industry of America)..They are strictly a 'for profit' entity!..Nothing wrong with that, but they have done almost nothing at all to promote the game/sport itself!..If they had spent half as much time promoting the game, as they have trying to sell equipment, pool would have been in the Olympics fifty years ago!

PS..Jay Helfert and Fast Lenny, have done more for pool, than the BCA ever thought of doing! :sorry:

And more than you or the resident ex-poolplayer's babysitter here have ever done.<--I have no idea who you are referring to here?..Don't you ever use names?..Are you afraid you might get beat up?

P.S. Thanks for hijacking another thread about a dead person.

RBL

All you ever seem to be interested in are 'dead people, as your avatar indicates!..Please, get a life!

PS..You are a full blown 'necrophiliac'!..(among your many other strange habits)
