Well I told everybody I would up date them about my recent one pocket action so here goes.

I lost. I played really bad. He played really well. Rolls shmolls. Do i still think I'm a better one pocket player, yes. Do other people think I'm supposed to win, you bet, but I didn't. I played bad for a few reasons, right? Wrong I played bad because I let things bother me and doubted myself. No excuses.

It was a race to 5 ahead for $500. The time before we played $100 a game and I won 8 straight then stupid stuff happened with money and he eventually got back to even.

There have only been 6 times where I was really playing for $100 or more. Two other times were races to 3 for $100 which I won and the other was two different $200 a game sessions. I broke even first day but on the second day I won $1200. In other words saturday was the first time I really lost and boy did it **** me up for about two days lol. My confidence was absolutely shot. Then I came to a place of acceptance. It won't be the last time I lose and I need to know that.

Well there is some good news. I have been offered 8-7 so I'm probably gonna play some $200 a game to get my money back and go up in 3 =] HOPEFULLY

Disclaimer: I have been playing just shy of two years, and I know that I have a lot to learn and experience and will continue to improve. However, I don't play very well yet =]

There was a thread about this recently I think. Anyone?

Sucks though, I'm sure you'll make it back

Clarification please: you've been playing pool or 1pocket for two years? Also, how long has the other guy been playing, about?

I await your answers with bait on my breath.

Well that certainly sounds unpleasant, depending on your preferences I suppose

You can't doubt yourself.
You can't worry about rolls.
You can't worry about missing and selling out.
You can't worry if you opponent is playing our of their head.

Just step up to the challenge, trust your ability and execute. Stay in control no matter the amount you play for. The more you gamble , the easier it gets. If you get tight, recognize it and remember to be the boss. Just keeping in control can make your opponent play weaker. Sometimes there's only enough air in the room for one player. It's funny what pressure can do.

.

It sucks to lose and to lose that much. It's hurts. But we all lose sometimes. Shoot my biggest loss was 600 in one day. I lost 3 races to 5 for 200 before I figured out I couldn't beat him. Lol I was younger and stubborn. And the crazy thing about this game is that you WILL win it back. Especially because of the way we are...... We got the pool sickness and we don't stop gambling.... Lol. You said it hurt for a few days but now you are looking at the positive and you are ready to get back in the ring! If you think about it in the long run it all goes around in a circle. You will always get your money back. You just might have to wait a few days to win it back in a tournament or from some other player. You have to invest in your game and learn from your losses. You learn more from a loss then anything else. You remember so many little things you did wrong as opposed to when you win big off some easy person. And you need to learn how to lose at bigger steaks so when you go back down to playing 50/100 games/sets the pressure is not as strong. From what I see you got heart and for you to get on here and tell the truth and not say " he got all the rolls "or "the table got me " tells me that you are going to be a higher level player sooner then other people playing at your level right now. There's no point in lying to yourself. You said it yourself. You played too tight and you hesitated on some shots. We all get like that. Shoot 500 ain't no joke. I should say you got balls not heart! But you got it all! Good luck in the future bro.

Very good attitude. You have to learn to lose before you can win. One time when I was in college I played a big set and lost and it was about 90% of the money I had at the time (College right:thumbup:). I only played because I thought I had the big old nuts but I took it for granted and had to eat Ramen that week. I really think that made me a better player.

Humble in victory and Gracious in defeat!

You may want to re-evaluate this match-up.

J

Yes you may want to get some more quality practice in
For me I play the monk ir John Henderson cheap to learn moves
Shoot straight but much more to the game
However good action from you

Has to know if good game for you or not
Two years unless your playing everyday and getting quality practice is not that long of a time

Well, you have one good thing going for you. You seem to accept accountability and look within yourself instead of blaming other factors for bad results. That's a great quality to have in pool and should allow you to reach your ceiling whatever level that is. You'll improve faster than that other guy of similar talent that doesn't approach the game the way you do. Good luck.

Bad Game

I think its great that you are willing to get in the box and play. I also like the accountabilitty you seem to have. However, I must tell you your opponent didnt luck out 5 games in a row. He is the better player at this current time. I also believe you are betting to high for your percieved skill level. Good luck on your pool game and continued action.

I'm not an expert on one pocket, as I'm just starting to learn it myself. I will however offer you this piece of unsolicited advice: Never mindlessly chase your losses in any gambling scenario. This guy obviously outplayed you, since 5 ahead in onepocket is quite a bit of play. You seem to understand that from what I read, but did you really take it to heart? There is no way he got lucky the whole way through that. Find out how he beat you exactly, and how you are going to counter his strenght before you dive in again. Did he outbank you, outmove you, outshoot you...? These are things you need to know, not guess. If you beat yourself, then you need to know why and how that happened so you can prevent it from happening again.

That being said, kudos to you for stepping up and testing yourself, I'm sure you'll learn a lot. Just remember: In the beginninng tournaments are cheaper:). I learned that the hard way, btw.
