A little late

Thanks for the info, but you're a little late with this post. Most of the members who became desperate to get their hands on a piece of this chalk have already left. The ones who could swim are probaly half way to Japan by now.

Enuf With This Exotic Chalk Talk

Okay...this is just freakin absurd and it sound smore like a basic marketing course in trying to foster and stimulate demand prior to bringing the product to market and overpricing it as a strategy. Eliteism, snobbery, professional players only use....., HOGWASH.

There are cheap chalks out there...you see the remains on the pool felt at poolhalls everywhere. Blue Diamond is it better....yes....worth the price....sure because unless you're an amateur at chalking your cue, it wears down slowly. I'm still using the same two pieces (one box) that I opened 4 months ago and I play in 1-2 weekly tournaments, practice 6-7 hours weekly, and play APA on twp different nights. The chalk sees a lot of use and the same two pieces are in use....can't read the chalk labels anymore - everything has worn off except for the paper wrap itself.

So am I saying everyone should use blue diamond, hell no. I'm just saying there is really a difference and the price/value ratio is outstanding////2 pieces for four months. I originally bought a carton of 50 boxes in e-bay and I still have 49 new boxes unopened after four months....pretty good value I think.

$25- $30-$35 FOR A PIECE OR TWO OF CHALK, THAT'S EVEN SMALLER IN SIZE TO MASTER CHALK AND BLUE DIAMOND....MY GOD!

Unless that one piece of chalk lasts a whole year, which I can't imagine. or heaven forbid iI leave it behind or just lose it, well, I wouldn't be happy. I think someone is jerking the market around and is trying to sell something like blue diamond chalk but at an artificially inflated price....maybe Efrem Reyes can tell us the truth....but nothing in the category of chalk is worth that much....remember, it's only imparts friction between the tip and cue ball......master chalk and blue diamond bo the do that rather well.

I'm with you on this one. Hmmmmm 25 buck for one piece....can buy a gross of Masters for around 23 bucks (gross is 144 pieces). Both keep that piece of leather on the end of wooden stick blue, which allows me to play without msicueing. Think I will stick with something that if I leave it at the hall I won't feel like committing Hari Kiri

Interesting....

Hmn....must be nice to be frivilous without even a 2nd thought. You might try cornering the market....there must be at several others that aren't concerned about price.....you might be able to give it a bump and sell it for say....two for $75 or even offer used chalks for say $15. I'm with you, what's the airfare to Manila?. We can get a line of credit and own the market....how many people do you know that will pay these prices....I know one....you....how many you got....OH!......Maybe we should give this plan reconsideration.....I'll get back to you.

Dont pay the high price for it ..

It's just my opinion but I will never pay a high amount for that chalk. The way to get the price down is for no one buy the stuff. Because if stuff dont sell they reduce the price, or stop makeing it. But if it's as good as they say and represent it to be that wouldnt happen so they would be forced to lower the price or not sell it....>>;) ED

Funny how you are so opposed to a product you have never used. I have used it and I think it is awesome.

I like to buy in bulk. For example, walmart got 10 cases of diet coke with lime in the other day. I bought them all. If I like something that is not readily avaliable then I stock up when I can.

Yeah, I find it so amusing how people are so passionately against this product without ever using it. They are convinced it's a marketing ploy or a trick or a scam without knowing anything except it is chalk and it costs $25+. I've never used it and probably wouldn't pay the money for it but I sure as heck wouldn't go about bashing the product without at least trying it.

I really wonder if the chalk is worth 25$. I will ask around next time I am at the hall to see if anyone has a piece. Wouldn't mind trying it to see.
I believe there are a lot of players feeling the same way.

Magandang umaga, kamusta ka Joyren.

My work mates at the hospital are teaching me. I might be able to carry on a conversation by the time I retire.

Are you planning on selling Kamui chalk to fellow Filipinos?
$35 USD is a lot of Pesos and I'm not so sure they need the extra help with their game anyway.

Bring some of that to Canada next year and I will buy you many cold beer for a piece of Kamui. I can't remember which city you said you were planning on moving to. Do you have relatives that are going to sponsor you?

Winner winner, chicken dinner!

I broke down and bought a piece a few weeks ago - damn these threads for talking about it and piquing my curiousity…

I will confirm that it works great. I was concerned about mixing the small amount of residiual Master's chalk on my tip with the Kamui chalk, and basically now I have a piece of Kamui chalk with a light coating of blue on top, but it seems to work just fine that way as well. Depending on the mix of shots I'm shooting, I can go 3 - 5 racks in practice without chalking easy, although in a competitive situation I think I would chalk at least once a rack, at a minimum every other rack, just to avoid that miscue that will come up when the chalk finally wears through. I find that my hands are cleaner since I'm not griding chalk all over them.

I also find that the chalk adheres to the cue ball longer, which was one of my concerns from a previous thread. So far at least, I haven't noticed an increase in the balls skidding or anything because of it, which is odd.

So while this is great chalk, I'm not sure I would buy another piece at $25. This was an experiment out of curiousity, I would be content to go back to free chalk from the poolroom and chalking every shot or two. Either this is some marketing scheme to generate buzz, or their manufacturing costs are very high, or they are trying to recoup initial development costs. Regardless, I don't think it will find mass appeal until the price is lowered to something reasonable, probably $5 at the most. If they could get the price lower, in the 50 cents area, I really think they would have a shot at overtaking market share from Masters and others, but I'm not sure that's their goal.
