Lots of Pics :: Shanghai Billiards Expo + ZEN Cues + Tournament

I agree...that table's my favorite BY FAR...TOO COOL!!!

Jive,

Once again, thanks for taking pics for those of us on the FAR side of the pond to enjoy!!!

Always a pleasure!

Hey can you get some pic's of cases please...

No cases Art..didn't take pics of cases heh. I do have one being built right now by the chinese cue maker, i'll be posting pics of it soon.

Poolis alive, and well in ASIA!

Hmm....with the recent booboo by the TV network to cut the finals of China Open just to cover the Snooker Opening Ceremony i'm not too sure pool is getting enough support yet. It'll get there but it's gonna need more time. The ongoing snooker masters cup happening in Shanghai now is sponsored by Bank of Communication China...one of the top banks..if pool ever gets this kind of sponsorship then i'm sure it'll be a different story.

As it is right now it's doing alright, definitely alive.

Good job with the pic's !!! Jive, you sure is only whiskey ? Hahahaha.... I know there a lot more than just whiskey !!!!! You party out in China you need a lot more than just whiskey.

Hey Kenny,

I just realised that the organiser for the Guangzhou Expo have already posted on AZ. Here's the link: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=288535&highlight=exhibition

Just checked the dates for GBE (Guangzhou Billiards Expo), the dates actually coincides with SBE...real silly though...i guess the next best bet would be next year this time at Shanghai.

thanks for sharing

Jive,
Thanks for sharing. This looks like a great event. I appreciate your taking the time to show us.
Best regards,
phil

Thanks for sharing the pics Jive. Its awesome to see a different perspective on the game we all love. Although not the same as the SBE, i would definitely had made a showing if i lived in the area. I love the sword on that Zen cue? amazing.

Thanks for the pics Jive !!!

I need to plan my next trip to China the same time as next years show.

That white GC would look killer with some tourney blue 860 on it!!

Best,

Russ...

Yup that's a Zen Cue. His cues are amazing, superbly well done and inlays that are so precise and clean that he has no qualms displaying his cues with other top makers side by side. The finishing is so good that its impossible to photograph(with my lack of photography skills) them cues and doing those super polished silver any justice.

Thanks for all the kind words guys, I'm glad people are liking them pictures. I'd be more than happy to introduce more stuff from this side of the globe when I come across them.

Great pictures, Jive.

Perhaps I should have planned my Xiamen trip together with this Shanghai trip instead. :/

Let me know if you are going to the Guangzhou one in March. Perhaps I can make a trip down. :)

Hey Marcel,

My bad, I should've told u about the expo before you made your trip to Xiamen..totally slipped my mind. Anyway I didn't confirm my trip till 1 week before the show too.

I do wanna check out the Guangzhou Expo as I hear it's much better. However it coincides with SBE which I really am keen on going as well... both takes place in the second week of April. So I'll if I'm not heading up for SBE then GBE it is.

Hey Rick,

Post #4 and #5 are all cues by Zen in Shanghai(I started a thread about him awhile back).
He does 4 Axis inlaying and I've been to his shop before.
The one with Chinese Calligraphy is all ivory and it's a tough cue to make as well. He basically goes through several trial and error to ensure every word can be inlayed properly.
The other flower inlays are all tulipwood and mop.
All silver you see are polished and super bling.

All I have to say about this is don't mess with Chady Liu! Unless you are prepared to lose a day of your life :-)

Thanks for being my partner in this adventure Jive!

Cues? Lots of eye candy for SURE. But I have to say that your Sugartree and the Guerra really got a lot of attention. I tried to steal Chady's Searing but unfortunately no one believed me when I said it was just viagra effects under my shirt. Guess I should have tried to take it without the matching Whitten it was in.

The Zen cues were outstanding. Interesting designs. Well executed. None of you noticed that the rings are the I-Ching did you? Look it up to see how cool this is. Taiwan/China cue making has arrived in the big leagues with Zen in my opinion.

And the tables, like the engineers at Brunswick got high on acid and started building every conceivable combination and genetic mutation that can exist. Too bad none of them were actual Brunswicks, well except for ONE at Yalin's booth that they put blinding yellow cloth on.

Looks like Pechauer is supplying a line to Yalin called Joesph cues. The look nice with lots of Pechauer signature designs.

It was great to meet Spliced Points and we also ran into Oscar Dominguez and John Morra at a local poolroom. Was really cool seeing the pros mixing it up with local talent.

Leo Billiards sponsored a 30,000rmb first prize tourney and they paid in cash! :-)

Wasn't much that was super interesting but it was cool to see friends and mess with cues. Worth it for that reason alone!

I'm devastated and heartbroken...you failed to mention about the tiger gloves..
Agreed, don't mess with Chady.

:-) I thought you already did a good job on those. I don't have one now anyway. You saw me give one to Oscar and when I got home Jessie claimed the other one.

Should've gotten Jessie those pink ones. I'll keep a look out for her
