Still cant decide on a whitten or a murnak ? Also
cant make up my mind on a 3x6 or 2x4 ? The 3x6
cases are kinda heavy and the 2x4 are limited at times
Would like to hear any ideas or picks of cases you
might have even if you dont want to sell them at
least I can get a better idea of what I want .I do
like the leather on the murnak cases better than
any case I have seen so far :)

Whitten

I can't give any input on Murnak other then they look great. Would love to see one someday. Anyway, I had a standard Whitten 3x6 and eventually traded it for a 2x4. The weight alone would hurt my shoulder after awhile. I have a regular playing cue with 2 shafts, and a JB cue with one shaft. Usually leaves me with an extra spot for transporting friend's shafts if I'm doing tip work for them. So, the 2x4 is plenty and weighs a lot less. I haven't seen the new 'Lite' Whittens but hear nothing but good things about them. May be the way you wanna go.

Forgot to add that I love my Whitten case. =o]

Whitten also offers a 3x4, which will be between the 2x4 and 3x6 in size, weight and price. It allows for one main player with two shafts, a backup cue/sneaky with one shaft, and a J/B.

Also, I bet he'd build you a 3x5 if you wanted.

I've had several Whittens and everytime I sell one I regret it. This one's not for sale. I'm just providing a pic. It's a 3x6 with no pockets. It's the case on the left.

I haven't owned a Murnak (yet). I saw a nice one at the DCC when I was playing the ring game. It was very nice.

I have a 3x6 whitten.. They are very well constructed, however like previous responses they are heavy. Factor that into your decision making and good luck with your hunt!

thanks

I appreciate all the feedback .I sold one of my cues
and was going to use some of the money for a better
case .So I am waiting and looking for the right one
I have bought a few and ended up selling them because
I did not like em

Hey Matt,

I have owned and used several Whitten cases. You probably know they are extremely strong. That has a lot to do with their weight.

You may not know that Dan is very accommodating with case repairs and enhancements. I had a case with the first style top strap. The strap fastened to the case with snaps. They had a habit of coming loose too easily. The same case also had a bad zipper (abuse not craftsmanship). Dan replaced the zipper for a nominal fee. He upgraded the top strap to the newer rivet fasteners for no charge. And the turn around on the work was just a few days.

I also find the finish on their leather to maybe be just a little fragile. It scuffs easier than I expected. That includes smooth and embossed finishes.

I prefer Whitten to Justis for sure but that is mainly due to Whitten's design and overall appearance.

whitten

I've got a well used whitten 3x4 - custom two tone (usually only in grey) - grey/black w/ spacer kit and tube tool $ 175.00 - can send pics if interested

thanks

Thanks Joe
I found a deal on a murnak but I will pass the whitten on to others ;)

No problem...you will love the Murnak. I was asked how I cleaned my Murnak, and I felt real bad about it because all I have done with it for the last 2 years is lug it around and toss it in the back of the car. Other than a couple of scuffs, it is still great.
