Luat's twist back bank for the match

You might be quite surprised by how little sidespin can actually be transferred from CB to OB (unless CB & OB are frozen together, or the OB is frozen to a rail)...and under what conditions it happens, and to what degree.

It depends on how dirty the balls are to a large extent. If the balls are not polished and are fairly dirty the spin actually transfers quite alot due to the increased friction. Totally clean and polished balls impart alot less spin.

Great shots. It's interesting to note that on both of Cole's bank shots, contrary to popular belief, NO sidespin is needed to get the OB to "twist" back into the corner pocket (both Willie Jopling and Grady showed me those shots, and how to make them with no english). Cole can clearly be seen cueing up low on the vertical axis.

Scott, what do you mean by "cueing up low"?

You are right about one thing, that hitting a ball on the right side transfers right spin to the OB. However, putting inside (in this case Left) cannot put left on the OB. Therefore, to make this shot MAXIMUM RIGHT handed spin is necessary.

Sorry DP but Superstar is right. I did this earlier and made the bank twice in a rwo with inside spin with the OB a little off the rail. Then with the object ball frozen to the rail I actually banked it LONG to the end rail a couple times before I made it. All shot with inside spin.

With outside spin it was actually much harded to cut the object ball enough to get close and all the banks went well short.

I will post the video tomorrow since I forgot to take he card out of the camera.

And it's much easier than it looks on the video. Cole Dickson's two twist back banks were WAY harder.

Yes,
Please post your video.

EDIT: Well, after re-watching the clip several times, I admit that Luat indeed probably killed it with inside. However, I believe that twist shot is near impossible if the OB is frozen to the rail and you try to use inside. I think the OB was a hair off the rail./

Not only is it possible it's not even that hard. As I said with the ball frozen to the rail I banked it long two or three times and once it was even heading towards the middle of the rail.

It's also not a twist. It's normal bank shot which just has to be very thin. As thin as it's being hit there is not any spin transfer happening that matters if any at all.

The Cole Dickson shots were twists. Shane also shot the same shot against Joey Gray in one of the game in the one pocket finals at this year's DCC. And Shane's was shot under pressure, through traffic and was a sellout if he missed.

Luat's shot was not a twist bank.He just hit it thin with alot of inside spin.I shoot that shot quite a bit too when I need to kill my cball. Cole's shots were what bankers call twist banks and are eaiser to make than Luats, imo. The twist banks are in my new banking dvd.John B.

I need to get with you because I found that Luat's bank was easier for me. For the life of me I can't get that twist back down consistently.

I did it with just a half tip of english.

Donkey Puncher...This point of fact is this: those kind of twisting bank shots can be made with inside, outside or NO english. My point was that english is not necessary to make the OB twist backwards...which is a fact. I think Donkey Puncher is talking about Luat's shot not long rail bank you are talking about.
