Lurker stepping forward.

I won't call him a racist but why was the word there at all? The sentence works just as well without it, just use the word driver or motorist. The inference was there clear as day. I didn't WANT to see the word Latino there in that context, it WAS there.

Also, I read it as it was an accident that took his project car away, not that somone stole the car. Why would it matter if a thief was licensed/insured?

This is my last post on this thread (again, WELCOME NEW FORMER LURKER).

It does matter that he was not licensed; This means he was not granted privilege to drive under the laws of the US.

Uninsured means that the accident was not covered by an insurance company, and the driver may or may not be capable of paying for the damage that was done.

If it's my car and story, then yes, it kinda sorta does add to the dismay of having your car wrecked.

He'd have rustled alot fewer feathers had he simply said, "I'm a 25 year "bar box" player now taking the game more seriously. After an unlicensed uninsured Eskimo took my 5 year car project away from me in an instant, billiards have replaced my obsession. "

Love it. My point exactly. By the way, Latino women are hot.
Is that Rascist? If so, I'm rascist.

Oh, definitely WELCOME. Just, please, be somewhat sensitive to other posters who may have family members who are of Latino background like myself.

I mean, a poster on another MB was physically assaulted at Valley Forge for making derogatory comments about Asians. Maybe it was more clear cut when it was done, but come on; Latinos are commonly stereotyped as having sticky fingers. Let not play dumb here.
They didn't steal it. They wrecked it, or into it. And who stereotyped them as "stick fingered?" I've never heard that. Are you stimulating the rascism by bringing this to light?

Of course it matters if the driver was licensed/insured in a car accident.

I was merely pointing out that the OP wasn't refering to a Latino stealing his car (as implied in a couple of other posts in the thread), just wrecking it.

IF he was refering to someone stealing it, then it wouldn't matter, comprende?

Exactly, it's not ten minutes until someone has tried to slam on the new guy. If he would have said "white anglo saxon," would you have even posted? No. You wouldn't have thought twice. Come on. He was describing what caused him grief. My welcome to you, Mr. Barbox. I do loves me some barbox. Anything I can do, let me know. There are some top notch players on here, and some who just, well..... you'll figure it out.
Now, what if the poster instead said "black male" or "Jew"? Would there be any less of an outcry?

Bottom line is that the particular racial/ethnic makeup of the person who wreck/stole his car is completely irrelevant to the point of his story. All it serves is to fuel stereotypes, and it's best that particular detail be left out.

Anyways, not everyone always thinks twice before hitting the submit button. I've been guilty of that as well.

Welcome to the board Rotarded.

I once played in a tournament with an Asian, a WASP, a black fellow, a Jewish fellow, and an Israeli. The Asian played great. The Wasp was the loser in last place. The Black fellow played fantastic. The Jewish guy could do no wrong. The Israeli was the nicest person I've ever met. The Wasp racked the balls so bad for me, I never made a ball. I lost. I now have a negative view of all wasps, although I am one. WTF?

Well said.

And Rotarded, welcome to board from me as well, I failed to mention that in my first two posts to your thread. I got caught up in the other issue as I tend to do at times.

Well... considering that "Latin America" generally has an average higher temperature,.. then you're just stating the obvious.

Climates aside, I think you're stereotyping, in the positive side. I'm sure we've all seen enough "not hot Latina" women.

All that being said, although I'm not "into Latina women," it's very hard for me not to list Salma Hayek and Jessica Alba as the two hottest women on the planet, at the moment.

Fred <~~~ would be proud to brag if Jessica or Salma were uninsured and wrecked my car

Exactly what I was thinking

First of all, ROTARDED don't listen to all the BS being thrown around your coming out thread they just want to suck you in. Like I said have fun and be thick skinned.

Second that igloo better be at least 17 Ft 10 Inches long and 13 Ft 10 Inches wide with no obstructions. :D

Just wanted to step up and post as I have been "lurking" on this forum for the last four months...

I'm a 25 year "bar box" player now taking the game more seriously. After an unlicensed uninsured latino took my 5 year car project away from me in an instant, billiards have replaced my obsession.

I have spent my entire pool "career" playing "bar pool" with house cues until six months ago. While winning an estimated 95% of the 8-ball games I've played (against mediocre, often drunken players) over the last 15 or so years, I am now excited to be learning more and more about the sport from the members of this forum.

I have purchased a handful of cues in the last few months and begun practicing to play league and tournament events in Columbus, Ohio. My current (modest) cues are a Pechauer JP1 w/a 13mm shaft, a Joss (unsure of model) cocobolo w/a 12.75mm shaft, and a Meucci MO4 Originals with 12mm and 13mm pre-dot shafts.

I have learned much in the 4 months I have been on this site and am excited and driven to learn much more from you here, realizing that I am far from the playing level of the majority of the members on AZBilliards.

Michael

Michael, some of our fine forum member are more likely to jump on a newbie for a small faux pas like yours (if that's what it was) than to admonish a regular poster who is calling another regular AZ member derogatory names.

It's not right.

It's not a perfect world.

But we are all trying to improve. (at least I hope so). :)

WELCOME TO THE FORUM. STAY A WHILE. IT GETS BETTER. :)

First, welcome to the boards! (See what you got yourself into?)

Second- Give me a friggin break!:( Just when are you people going to get off your 'politically correct' garbage?? He described what happened to his car. An uninsured, unliscensed Latino driver wrecked it. Why on earth would anybody be offended by that?? If you are so upset that it was a Latino, then why don't you go out and make sure they are all liscensed and insured? Maybe because you know as well as everybody else on here that a lot of them aren't. And if that offends you , too bad. It is fact. That's not being racist, that is being a realist. There is a difference.

Why is it that today nobody can mention someones skin color, race , hair color, weight, ect. ect. without being called a racist?

When someone calls me a caucasian, I'm not offended, why are you offended when someone calls a Latino a Latino? Some of you just carry this nonsense WAY too far.

Well said Neil!

LOL!!!! The front door.... of the igloo is the main obstruction. It won't matter one iota if there's room inside for a pool table.

Fred <~~~ just said something racist against greeks
