I just received confirmation that I will be spending my summer (June & July) in Machesney Park, Illinois training a new center of employees. This small town is located, according to google, 60 minutes from Chicago, Madison, & Milwaukee.

Does anyone know anything about pool rooms or even bars with pool tables in the area. After work, I don't think I would have time for 2 hours total in traveling so was looking for something closer than the bigger cities listed above.

I was born near there and my parents live there. I don't get there real often and don't exactly know the pool scene there. Machesney Park is right next door to Rockford, Illinois. Dallas West runs a pool hall at the intersection of State and Madison in Rockford. I know there is a pool hall at the intersection of Auburn and Main in Rockford.

There is another guy named Raiford, I think who runs a pool school in Rockford.

Dallas's at State & Madison and Rockford Billiard Cafe are in Rockford. Also Shooter's at Don Carter Lanes has seven 7' Diamonds. If you stay in MP then Beloit, WI has the Carom Room which is only 20 minutes away and is the home to Jeff Carter and Larry Nevel (when in town) and many other good players. The Carom Room is also the best place for "action" in the area.
 
PM me when you get around there are some good rooms an hour away in CHI- the Red Shoe i believe thats were Fargo has been in action lately.
Leisure Time has goos weekly tourneys im about an hour away south alot SMALL action with some quality players likw Bobby Mcgath,Mike Laport, Scotty Laird Mark Hammerel the Room owner you never know any given day you might get Jon Kacharo,Bowman Josh Johnson it just depends. The place is Billiards on Main Galesburg Il

Local azer's Jim S/Cuaba/New Cues/ Gravy train Adam Behnke shoot out of there as well:)
