This is an idea that i have had for a while, its more aimed towards the poolhall owner and home tables rather than players.

It uses thin flexi plastic stickers in certain locations to hold the balls in place.

Whilst i know there are other versions available on the market, it will be up to the public to decide which they like better

Roy, Friends and myself have played on this table with those dots since early December 2009 and it's still holding up. This stuff is so thin that it relatively doesn't interfere with the balls path.

For 8, 9, and 10 ball you shouldn't need the spot in the middle, correct? Just thinking it's one more place for a ball to hit at slow speed and roll a bit off...

This idea has already been patented and it is called Rack Spot. It was created in Japan about 10 years ago and all national competiton has been played with this system since as it is endorsed by both the JPBA and JAPA. I am the north american distributor for them and will have inventory in Valley Forge...I welcome all to check it out....OB Cues will also have one on the table at their booth...in North America it will be called Racktight.

Sincerely
Grace Nakamura-Babcock

Under the name Rack Spot, this product has been around for 10 years. I have just been granted exclusivity legally for all of North America from the manufacturer in Japan, and will be calling it Racktight. Simonis and OB Cues will have samples at their booths in Valley Forge abd I will be available for questions at both locations.

I've been following all these new rack product threads that have popped up the last month. I think all the ideas are good ones.

samurai, what is the patent number? I don't see anywhere on your site "patented" or "patent pending".

Thanks.

A dirty tactic to use my thread to promote your own product

GREAT BUSINESS STYLE YOU HAVE
not a dirty tackit as you jumped in on my thread as well, I am sure we want whats best for our sport....The more info the pubIic receives, the better for them to make an informed decision....As I said in an earlier thread that a combination of Magic Rack for practice and Racktight for tournament is ideal...I never put your product down, in fact I said it is a grat tool for practising by yourself....The patent is pending and I willl get the number from the manufacturer and post when I receive it.....Troyroy what happened to the light hearted challenge you proposed to me earlier?

GREAT BUSINESS STYLE YOU HAVE

I do actually have a GREAT business style, I am honest and want the public to know the truth....as I said this system has been around for a long time

I knew this was available in Japan, but I did not know where to get it here in the US. (Actually sent an email to a friend in Japan asking for a place to get it.)

I personally didn't see anything that Grace said or did as a dirty tactic. But that's me. It gave me information I've been looking for for quite some time.

This thread left me with ugly feelings.

No. I do agree, that was bad form.

You say patented system? How does someone patented a hole punch sticker? Can I patent a rubber band if I find a new use for it?

and re; "system". the word system is being used really lightly alot lately. They are hole punch reinforcers available by the 100 pack for a buck.

This is as good of a time as any to make my big announcement. I have a great new system coming out soon... (patent pending) I call it the "towel of paper magic shaft burnishing cleanser"....

Here's a sneak peak at my system...

Please disregard the current logo on my system. Its being changed. I have exclusive rights to use this system of mine for magically cleaning cue shafts!.

lol.

sorry guys but this thread went quickly from, [me thinks:] "wow, I hadnt thought of that" "neat, sure if you sell the template rather than me measuring it all out myself, I might consider it, no doubt. Thanks for the contribution". to [me thinks:] "I use these stupid hole punch stickers everyday, yeah good use for them. But if these guys want to butt heads over who's the "inventor" and get all ugly... pffft, I'll do it myself"

DOn't kill the messenger here, I dont know anything about either of you. Im sure your both fine people, Im just saying what went though my head.

Take it for what its worth. Like it or not, I think I am your target demographic. I suspect of the hundreds of people that have viewed this thread... Im not the only one who thought this. Might be the only one that said it though.

I won't get involved in the "war of words" but you've got to give them credit. Are they "hole protectors"? Yeah, probably, maybe a little thinner. Do I and other people use hole protectors now for practice? Yeah, but someone came up with the idea for the template to lay them down and that's a good thing. Is the Delta Rack based on the old wooden racks? Sure, but it's an improvement. If it improves the game I see no problem with it. Definitely agree about "who came up with what first threads". I guessing if it's someones bread and butter then they should go the battle for it. Times are tough...money's tight....................... there's a song in there somewhere.

Japan

I actually first saw and played on tables with this 9 ball rack in Japan at a pool and darts bar where Naoyuki Oi plays. This rack gives a perfect rack every time. All the balls are frozen to each other, and using the proper break...pocketing the wing ball on the break is about 100%. I was able to pocket the wing ball 15 times in a row. The Japanese pool hall owners even know the approximate number of breaks until the hole stickers need to be replaced, and I have another version that is a diamond sheet (cut-out) that forces all the balls together. I got it from a friend in Japan.

I think samurai was right about setting the record straight. This has been around for a long time. USA just doesn't know about it, or doesn't believe in it. Some players think the material makes the balls slide and go in un-natural paths.

The challenge is still there, i have no bad feelings there. My only issue is when you post your product on my thread.

Anyway i cant really be bothered to argue on az about this, i look forward to meeting with you at VF.

so the system's been available for 10 years? Patent pending? that's a long time... why?

ChinO, just because it's been available in Japan for 10 years, does not mean it's been to the US patent office for 10 years. That may be fairly recent. I don't know when they applied for a US patent.

TroyRoy:
Is there a reason it's not a full 15 ball rack? The reason I ask this, is I would think room owners would be a pretty good market, and they would want to maximize their investment. A rack that can do all games, including 8-ball and one pocket.

Just a question.

They are clear plastic paper reinforcments that you can get at any office supply store. I think the last time I bought some they were $3 for a roll of 200. Phil Capelle mentions using them in all of his books for setting up consistent repeatable shots.

Samurai, how can you have a patent on something like that? If I decide to use them to set up a perfect 9 ball rack on my table at home are you going to sue me because I bought my paper reinforcments from Office Max instead of you?

OfficeMax... less than 3$

I gotta agree with JCurry on this. Selling one rack of 9 for 15$, wow. I just picked some up at my local office supply store, easily created my own template and voila! I have less than $3 invested with 185 reinforcements left over.

They are very thin and don't really affect shots that roll over them as far as I can tell..
