Dave Hall grinds it out....
Just coming off his State Straight Pool victory, Dave "Eagle" Hall, grinds his way out to his fourth Maine State 9-ball Title, tied with MD all time and both 1 behind T.J. @5.
After falling behind 6-2 & 7-4, Dave grinds his way to a hill/hill,8-8,victory playing a 1-9,rail first combo. Great Tournament.....other than the antics from MD.........:(

TJ...one of the finest human beings I ever played 9-ball with....
...and was glad it wasn't straight pool.

Two questions, David.

What exactly did MD do?

And, do you have the results out past the finals? I know of someone who wuz supposedly gonna play in it?

Second was Josh and third went to Samoth.."who looks and strokes like Efren's long lost brother".....

As far as MD goes....
He was 3 tables down, during and after the finals, making prop. Bets and making himself the center of attention......maybe I'm just old BUT their used to be a thing called "Pool Etiquette", the more I get back into the game, the less of it I see. It truly used to be a Gentlemen's Game......what a sin.....:(

I remember going to spot shots like 10 years ago and The Eagle was the man to beat. Apparently still is. Really nice guy, willing to hit balls with a D player for fun. Why don't we ever see him outside of maine? Is he in the same league as mike?

Lots of history in that room...

Very historic room, all the greats played there at one time or another....Efren,Earl, Grady, Liscotti, Cisero, Rempe and I'm sure plenty more that I can't name ......aren't many rooms left in New England with that type of pedigree....

Seriously, what ever happened to Etiquette ?

Not just MD...there were others also.....
I was amazed at the lack of "pool manners".....players practicing next to guys playing in quarter and semifinal matches for cash and a State Title?....Really?...WTF!
I guess I just come from a different era.....:frown:

IAM from the 70s 80s 90s era, things are way different now David, no more gambling like it used to be, players now need everything in their favor, qballs, cloth, racks, rules and tables for them just to get up and play!

i LIKED it when any player could walk in our pool hall and get played, with 6 simply words, do you want to play some!

And every top player in the states came through our doors in Baltimore, Strickland, Rempe, Sigel, Andam, Polo, Leggs, Archer and many more came and they all got played even, and lot more then half were beaten playing 9ball!

And nobody played withend 3 tables of the match that was going on, bach then everybody stopped what they were doing to watch the big game anyway and most tried to bet what they could on it!

Yea those things are very different today!

Yea thats the way top players played back then, they got up and played anybody that came through the doors, and it only took less then an hour to start playing, not months like todays players!

Is it like this all over the country or has "Pool Etiquette" completely disappeared???

Cody took 2nd

I don't know what match you were watching but Josh did not take 2nd in the State Tournament. Dave Hall beat Cody Francis winning the hot seat and putting Cody in the loser's bracket. I left before the final, but Cody came back and Eagle prevailed in the final. Samoth was 3rd and I think I remember seeing that Jordan Labbe took 4th. I was in there Monday. I looked at the board to see who knocked Ivo out. It was Nick Conners. I was watching Ivo earlier and thought it might come down to him and Eagle. If Josh took 2nd, maybe it was the 2nd chance tournament that was going on.

As far as Mike is concerned. I saw him playing on a spare table like he always does. There is always someone that wants him to show them something. No way did I think he was being disrespectful to a tournament. I guess people see things differently.

Are you old enough to remember the pool room under the YMCA? Played there and in Dave Murray's room many times.

Thanks for the correction..

You are correct, it was Cody, not Josh,...my bad. Cody played well until
"Eagle" got into "grind" mode. Fun final to watch but I stand by my observation of disrespect shown by MD among others...
