Could that be why I see some players putting up six ball or eight ball with the number straight up when spotting a foul in one pocket.

That is a old trick plus when they do that they may have wetted their fingers and applied it to the edge of the ball at the equator unintentionally of coarse as their fingers got wet form the condensation on the glass or bottle of beer :thumbup:

I think that was the purpose behind the "Beautiful Elephant Balls" that were not really beautiful.

Actually, you can pick out a "close to" color or a busy stripe behind a lead solid ball & it's hard to pick out the exact side of the lead ball.
