Making an object ball jump

I was intrigued to find out this shot a while back. I saw someone perform a shot where the cue ball was jumped slightly, landed on the object ball at an angle, in turn making the object ball jump over the edge of an impeding ball.

This shot doesn't really come up that often, but it would be nice to have in your repertoire.

I believe it is executed with an elevated cue (30-45 degrees) with slight top spin. If anyone has anything to comment on this shot, please do so.

I've done this shot quite a few times before. Height accuracy with the jump isn't that necessary as long as you don't jump too high and go over the OB. The only really good use of it is a desperation shot over a pocket held by another ball.

All you really need is a low jump, no spin is necessary at all (but my jump usually has a natural draw on it)

If you run into Charlie Bryant at an event some time, stop him and ask him about jumping object balls. I've seen him clear 10 balls across a 9 foot table.

The standard trick shot to demonstrate this is to remove the 2 ball and put one cue stick on the table between the cue ball and the one ball and a second stick on the table between the one ball and the pocket.

With a standard cue stick on Simonis, it's tough to get over more than just the bare edge of the ball.

I used to shoot a shot where I jump over a ball hit an object ball and make it jump over another ball and go in the pocket.
Practice it a little it's not that tough. Philw

I was under the assumption that this shot was preformed with an elevated cue and bottom english, no?

Its also cool when you jump into an object ball then over another ball then jump off a rail over yet another ball cross side nothing but net...lol.

I called this shot in a little bs 8 ball tourney and the guy i was playing said if i made the shot he was gonna break down his cue and quit.

out the door he went...lol
