Making Blanks by Burton Spain

I got one copy too

I imagine the seller is breaking copy right laws. I've got a copy also and, truthfully, I find very little usable information in it. It might be a nice bit of history of his thoughts but for the most part, what I got out of it is him bragging on his accomplishments. Certainly no long lost nor new cue making secrets.

Looks like an original to me... I have the one titled "recollections on point making" and like it was mentioned, not a ton of real information, but plenty of history on his process.

Certainly is a good book to have for a piece of HISTORY:smile:

Is the book an original or a replication of the book?

Thanks,

Doug

Looks original to me.

I have one (helped me make my first cue) but I can't find the damn thing!

I might have to buy this one...

But I agree: a few diagrams and ilustrations, but not a lot of actual nuts & bolts on HOW to make the blank. I had to figure a lot out on my own...

Since then I have been collecting thoughts and notes in a word file that I continue to build upon. That has the real nuts & bolts on how to do the actual construction (sometimes a few ways to do it) some I have seen, some I have done, some I have heard of, others I just dream up and get on paper so I don't forget them!

I am supossed to FINALLY close on my house next week, so hopefully by October I have a shop set up again and can begin making blanks of my own! (Current project is a John Davis blank)
