Making $$$$ off pool secrets/knowledge

Well, it was reprinted in 2007 (200th anniversary of the first edition) and was available for about $60. I can get a copy for you at that price if you're really interested.

I was more curious about the origin of CTE and unfortunately, the rest of the book would probably be wasted on me. I have too many books waiting to be read and too many pool instructional videos that need to be fully consumed. The would just go on a shelf seldom to be looked at, let alone read. :( Thanks for the offer. I did notice that Amazon didn't immediately show the reprint of 2007. I would probably glance at the pages on CTE and wince when I didn't immediately improve my game by two balls.

No matter what sport or activity you choose, nerves and focus is the biggest challenge there is.

ANYONE can learn to hit the cue ball in the right spot at the right speed at the right moment. ANYONE. There is no mechanical reason why any able bodied person is restricted from learning to play pool correctly.

Thanks JB, please do not get upset because i am going to somewhat disagree with you on this, provided all players fully rested, good sleep, no chemicals in the body. Sure if you are tired you will loose focus forget to include one of the many check list items for a particular shot. So if two players are in the same status the only thing separating them is knowledge and practice and i mean knowledge, i am sure you have seen Efren's two rail Zigzag with Earl, is that knowledge, nerves or focus? of course luck is a factor too.

JUST practice? No. Proper practice with proper feedback, and then you are getting somewhere.;)

Just going out and hitting the balls like my miserable experience for years is dead wrong, or even just playing pool with someone else (not practice). So you always wonder what is wrong with me; Here comes a friend of yours and say oh, you probably need to work on your mental game, another guy says oh man you have to feel your stroke, give me a break, those are things that put me off for so long. Please for God's sake and my sake do not just practice. Get and know the knowledge/secrets like i did, and start enjoying practice (educated practice), and believe me you will do wonders. There is a lot of variables that needs to be all 100% accounted for before you shoot. In my opinion, the better player will be one able to select most of those variables and apply them.

That may be true
But I asked you
What you wanna do
For a few?

I spent my life giving away any and all knowledge I could find, including ideas to try, known facts, and esoteric pieces of information that might only be food for thought.

Made a good living doing it!

There is something to karma. Everything you do comes back to you -- doubled.

Of course there are some areas of specialized knowledge that are not for public consumption because of the harm it would cause to the public. Can't think of anything pool related that should not be available for free to any interested party.

I have always found it interesting that the more I gave things away, the more I was aked to get involved in one or another project. My colleagues who did not think this way had various personal assumptions about my being lucky, etc. In reality, the more you give the more you receive.

I wanted to start a new pool league based on individual handicapped participants. There was little interest at first. So I gave free pool lessons to any members of our community. Six months later we have that pool league (as modified by all of the participants).

Someone said give it away and we will grow our sport -- how true.

It sounds like you are speaking of something similar to what some call the "universal law of attraction".

I don't post much but it is killing me.
People selling their secrets has ruined pool to me . That is what made pool great, players kept the info to themselves or very close friends. They would not sell their info no matter what.
I am just frustrated that I paid a lot of $$$ for PRIVATE lessons and thought I had something most players don't have.
Azbilliards ( free info) and players/instuctors looking to make that one big money deal is making me wanting to quit.
How do u all feel or am I alone here ?

Joe

sorry, but this sounds more to me like your bitter you're getting beat by others. any one who wants to dumb down pool, is not some one who want pool to be "great." Pool is arguably one of the hardest sports to play, and play well. Getting good can take a life time and a fortune, and to boot the pay off is very little if any. Getting info into beginner and amature hands helps to grow the sport. I would be willing to bet the percentage of players that pick up the sport and quit, is FAR less today than 10, 20, and especially 30 years ago.

Fact of the matter is this, if you cant swim then get out of the water. If you don't know how to kill sharks, you better buy a boat. ;)
