just wondering what you posters think of Mali Cues? are they a decent production cue? would you rate them better or worse than other production cues like Cuetec, Falcon, Viking, Schon, etc.

and what do you guys think of this cue?
i think it looks very sharp, just not sure how Mali Cues play.

I shot with a buddies Mali, I wasn't impressed by it. The shaft was not as smooth as a Joss shaft. I have heard some players prefer this slightly rougher shaft. The Joss was a better cue....JMO.

A good player that used to post on AZ by the name of the SILENCER loved and swore by a Mali...unfortunately, a number of other AZer's didn't love and swore AT him.

I have a Mali. I think there are better production cues out there.

Mali's were very good, budget minded cues at one time. Now they are imported and are comparable to the myriad of cues from Taiwan and China. I'm not saying they are not good, just run of the mill.

I played with a simple green Mali for 6-7 years and loved the way it played. For the price I think they play just fine. I don't know about the new ones, this was a cue made in 1990.

Mali...????

No offense,,,but MALI,,,,only word i can use to describe them is JUNK...And i used to own 1 that i pawned off on some guy...................mike

I agree with Purdman. The shaft quality has been quite low in those Malis I've seen...

Years ago they were ALOT better made then they are now. Above one person said they are now imported crap and that is pretty much true. 12 years ago a new mali was a decent cue, not Schon level, but it was right there at the Falcon level, and slightly under Joss (which at the time was also ALOT better then today though too). Mali, Joss, and even Schon are not what they used to be.

when my kids were much younger, i always had a couple of mali's for them to use at home. they were good sticks, available 2nd hand for $50. i still have a couple in the basement for use by guests.

I have an older Mali!!!

I have an older Mali, I got it on ebay and I have used it for the better part of the last 3 years. I don't think this is my final cue. But for a cheaper cue it is good IMO. I can't afford an expensive cue, when that day comes, we'll put the Mali away, but until then I like my Mali. It also has been a good back up as a break cue. My weight of this cue is approx. 19 1/2 ounces.

If you don't have a lot of money, try bidding on cues on EBAY.
If you get one and don't like it, resell it on Ebay. Thus, very
small risk of being out much money until you find the right cue
for you, which may take months or years.

The older American made Mali cues were a very good cue for the money. Comparable to Viking. Not sure about the new Cuesport imported line.
