Mark Gray Nick Ekonomopoulos are they top 5 Europeans?

Europe has a pro tour, something American is lacking, sad to say.

With that said, Thorsten Hohmann, who's won quite a few championship titles, the most recent of which is Challenge of Champions, may not be included because he has not completed in recent European tour events. Is that right? Or may he be included because of a "wildcard" pick? Just curious how the European selection criteria is.

The American selection criteria, as we all know, is quite different than the European selection criteria. It seems that every year, Matchroom Sport adjusts the selection criteria for Americans, so that it is fair across the board. I admire that about them.

Next year, if there is a next year, it may once again be different than this year. I guess that's what I like about Matchroom is that they're flexible.

Flexibility is crucial to the growth of business.
As for Mr. Hohmann - I have no answer

My memory is fuzzy here, but didn't Nick whitewash SVB a few years ago in a Mosconi Cup singles match?

Appleton, Mika, Shaw, Boyes, Thorsten would be the best combo but they could put together a whole mess of teams that would beat us.

exactly, they could field a second team strong enough to win. There's still Neils, Ralf, Nick Van, Nick Eko, Chris melling etc

Last year the Europe selection criteria was the top 3 of the ranking and 2 wildcards picks. This year is a little different. There are three automatic spots available on Team Europe drawn from three separate rankings; the Euro Tour rankings made up of five events, a World event list made up of the China Open, World 9-ball Championship and October’s US Open, and a list combining all eight events. The remaining two players will be wildcard picks.
