Mark on tip after miscue

Just a quick question.

Sometimes, when I miscue, there will be a light colored mark (or discoloration) on the side of the tip. Not that it's a big deal, but how would I get rid of this discoloration? I always would wet the tip slightly and burnish, but I'm not exactly sure if this would have any negative effects.

Haha... I knew this response would pop up. I should have worded it better.

The mark is on the edge of the tip going onto the sidewall/tip shoulder. It's usually caused by one of those scoop miscues on draw shots.

You have the middle and two cue tips going down, up and both sides, other than that you will miscue.

A little spit and a burnish with a piece of leather is how most burnish a tip after install. Won't hurt ya at all.

I know I have mentioned it before. I use a bit of water as my spit usually contains Skoal Winter Green while I am in the shop.
