Mark Williams Teaches His Signature Underarm Shot

Seems harder than using a bridge but I will have to try it later today. Thanks for posting that.

a buddy uses it regularly, also in competition. very good pool player, 200 ball runner. whatever works i guess. it certainly has worked well for mark. the only argument i have against using the bridge is that it can slow down your rhythm. other than that i think it's kinda funny the lengths we go to just to avoid the bridge and practice using that boring but useful contraption

Years ago I knew a very good player from Iowa Dave Yeager use this quit a bit. He was tall and lanky but man could shoot.

I thought the video would be ALL underarm shots.
Interesting, will give it a go, tho I'm starting to shoot better south-paw.

.

I have been doing this instead of shooting left handed for many years, probably a decade or so. It doesn't come up that often. I think I shoot better like this than left handed but that is more an indictment of my left hand shooting than a claim of great skill with this style. If it isn't a simple shot I will go ahead and hunt a rake or make a different choice of shots.

Mark put it to use playing Neil Robertson this morning. A shot on the pink that he hit with power and spin to get perfect on the black. Oh yeah he did provide a 147 and a century in losing 5-3. Every frame was won in one visit.

he's a joy to watch when he's on. my impression the first time i saw him was that he looked like he was going to fall asleep, looked really bored. but he's an incredibly entertaining and attacking player.

Tyler Strawn of Tulsa OK former multi time US jrs champ did this exact stroke since he was a kid, could run out shooting like that.

RIP
