i want to place a straight line from the spot to the foot rail on my table.

i can get the line orientated and straight edged correctly, i was just wondering what should be used to mark the line itself (i.e. pencil, magic marker, sharpie, something else...). my cloth is simonis green.

thanks.

Most guys use pencil or sharpie. Use anything that will show up on the cloth, not affect the roll of the balls, and not transfer onto the balls.

Table marking

We mark all of our tables in the pool room with a rack, headstring, and a line from the spot toward the foot rail. I use a fine point sharpie, and redo it occasionally.

Line on Cloth

I am not a professional table mechanic, but I like to work on my own tables.

There are many reasons that may cause you to want to remove and later reinstall the same piece of cloth from time to time. If you have marked on it with a permanent instrument, if may be extremely difficult, if not impossible, to restretch the cloth and keep that mark in perfect placement.

I like to use chalk for such purposes.

thanks for the feedback fellas.

i am thinking a blue sharpie will give a good spot line, but not stick out like a sore thumb.

just wanted to get a few opinions before i started marking all over a 9' diamond
